I may be to late for my 2 cents worth. Just got back from the area on August 14th. Stay in Pacific Grove and book the Chapel room at the Green Gables Inn (a foursisters property).

Last year my husband and I stayed at the Pine Inn - and was SHOCKED at how wonderful the place was (unit 2 I think) with marble & charm everywhere. paid only $100/night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hosted my wedding in Carmel and, after days of searching for the perfect hotel for our out-of-town guests, I picked the Best Western. I highly recommend this hotel. It doesn't sound "cute" like the other hotels in Carmel, however it really is just as nice and cute as the others, plus the cost is reasonable ($100/night). The rooms were warm and inviting and clean...newly remodeled bathrooms. The hotel is in town so you can park your car there and just walk everywhere. Our guests, some of them picky, were all very happy with their accomodations and the way they were treated by the staff. My husband and I stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa in Cannery Row. I, personally, will stay THERE again next time we're down in that area. If you don't mind the 10 minute drive from Monterey to Carmel, this is a great option...the hotel was exceptional. Comfy beds, big warm bathrooms, an onsite spa and several restaurants...if you're looking for more of a resort-style hotel the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa is IT. Also, you have to try Porta Bella restaurant on Ocean in Carmel...GREAT food and hospitality! Good luck!!

cmarco
Was it the Best Western Carmel Mission Inn, or Best Western Carmel Bay View Inn?? I am trying to decide on one of the two, since the prices are good.
Thanks,

Since cmarco hasn't posted on Fodor's since this thread well over a year ago, I doubt you will get an answer.

If you need a comparison I suggest you start a new thread titled "Carmel -- which Best Western?" and then mention the two and express your concerns.

Thanks, I did post a new thread titled Best Westerns in Carmel. Hopefully I will get feeback.
I also looked on tripadvisor.com.

I just saw this and had to add...if you've got the budget, the Park Hyatt Highlands Inn is phenomenal. The view from the balcony is breathtaking, and I found the entire place very peaceful. The rooms are large, and the bathrooms and tubs really nice. I've stayed here two separate times (before and after a major renovation around 2002) and to me, it's heaven on earth!

Yes, the Highland's Inn is exquisite! We've spent a couple of anniversary trips there and were very pampered. Beautiful property with two very good restaurants on site. Book under the romance package. We had champagne with breakfast delivered to our room each am while we dined by the glowing fire! ***kim*** ((f))

I've stayed at the Best Western Mission Inn and it was fine -- clean, quiet, reasonably priced and easy access to things in Carmel. This is not a scenic place, but don't discredit it for that. It's right next to a tiny shopping village called Barnyard -- very convenient for weary travelers who only had the energy to go that far to eat on Day 1.
