Where to stay in Bar Harbor
We'll be visiting Labor Day weekend and want an Inn or a B&B, someplace where breakfast is included, and walking distance to downtown. Any suggestions?
|
Highly recommend you visit your local bookstore, surf the web, and otherwise shop like mad - it is way late to consider booking anything in Bar Harbor for THIS Labor Day weekend by now...
If you're serious about included breakfast and walking to town, at reasonable/moderate rates, you'd best be planning now for next year. |
Check out Holbrook House. We stayed there years ago but think it might fit the bill.

Well thanks for your snooty answer. I didn't say we're THINKING of visiting, I said we ARE visiting, so I can't check for next year. I do realize it's late, that's why I asked for advice. I already have visited a bookstore but it lists 25 or so B&B's and I wanted to narrow it down. If you didn't have something helpful to say you shouldn't have said anything at all.
Thanks for the rec on Holbrook House, I'll give them a call later today. |
djkbooks wasn't beeing snooty, just honest.
It will do no good to "narrow down the list", because you'll just have to call EVERY place on your list, in case there happens to be an opening somewhere. |
Black Friar Inn. I have to agree that finding anything for Labor Day weekend will be difficult.

You CAN and you WILL find a place to stay. I worked for 2 different inns in Bar Harbor.
My recs: Nanau Bar Harbor Inn Asticou (on the other side of the island) My suggestion is to call the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce (you can google them to get the number) I believe they have a database of available rooms. We would call them to tell them that rooms were available. |
The Stonethrow Cottage just reopened after major renovations and has almost 100% availability, heard any good things?
Thanks for the tip on calling and being supportive of being able to find rooms, I appreciate it. |
