Where to stay between Pismo beach and Santa Monica?

We are a couple in or early 30's doing a road trip in early September from San Francisco to LA. We are staying in Pacific Grove, then Pismo Beach and then we wanted to stay in Santa Barbara but we are struggling to find accommodation. Can anyone suggest another town or area?

Thanks

I am a big fan of the Danish themed town of Solvang, about 45 minutes above Santa Barbara/North - http://www.solvangusa.com/ or it that's too busy/sometimes touristy - stay somewhere in the Santa Ynez Valley - perhaps at one of the wineries that have accommodations.

Not sure what you mean about struggling in SB. Is it a Saturday night and everything's full or too expensive? If so you may find something in nearby Carpinteria. Or you could spend another night near Pismo. Both Santa Ynez and Solvang are easy to visit from Pismo if you wanted to do that, and Santa Monica is only a 3 hour drive next day...just stay away from traffic hours heading down into the Los Angeles areas, do the drive mid-day.

Just found this place and posted about it:

"I made a last-minute trip to Santa Barbara for Easter weekend. Found this jewel of an inn, just 1/2 block from the waterfront:

The rooms are newly renovated, so have granite countertops, new furniture, etc. I booked Easter Sunday for just $119/night plus tax, for a king bed suite (with extra space and pullout sofa) including a continental breakfast, free wi-fi, and free parking.

It really is the cutest little place. Set up like a motel, where you drive right up to your room."

There is a Marriott on Beullton off the 101. Nice place and close to wineries, the Hitchin Post restaurant, Solvang (Danish town with amazing pancakes) and Los Olivos. If you saw the movie Sideways, it takes place in this area. Beautiful area and so much to do...especially if you love wine and good food.

Ditto Heavens' suggestions and definitely see the hilarious movie Sideways if you have not already.

Yes I have stayed at that Marriott several times, it is nice and quiet since it is not on the highway.
