Where to Stay between Mammouth Lakes and Salem, OR?

We would like to spend one night in a scenic location on our drive from Mammouth Lakes to Salem. A cabin with kitchen facilities and a deck with view would be ideal. Any ideas?

Wow that's a long road trip. Is this just for one night? Would you be driving half way each day or will you be breaking up the drive another way? It's like 12-13 hours.

And what route are you taking? The 5? That makes a huge difference.

That is basically a two-day drive on the interstate. The route doesn't lend it self to anything other than interstate motels. I think it is unrealistic to be looking for a cabin with cooking facilities.

If you can make it to Dunsmuir/Mt. Shasta, you'll find something.

When? Cabins w/kitchens in scenic areas usually don't rent by the single night during the summer.

But do you really need a cabin/kitchen/deck/view? You would not have much time to use any of that.

That is one looooooong route - so just drive to Mt Shasta and pull into whichever motel has a vacancy. The BW Treehouse has a restaurant attached.

Maybe 395 north to Susanville or Lassen Nat. Park in the first day and then into Salem.

But Susanville to Salem is about 8 hour's straight driving w/o stops. IMO they would want to get a lot farther than Susanville or Lassen on day 1.

McCloud may have something you might like. It's just a little way off I-5 and would be on your route if coming up 395 or 89 and cutting over to I-5.
