Where to stay along southern OR or northern CA coast?

Where to stay along southern OR or northern CA coast?
We will be leaving Roseburg OR and driving across to Bandon, OR and down the southern coast, spending the day enjoying this drive. We plan to spend one night en route to friends in Sepastopol CA--basically we have two full days. Any suggestions for a scenic stop en route? I'd love to spend the night on the coast and have read that the 60 miles betwen Gold Beach OR and Brookings OR are spectacular, but there doesn't seem to be much lodging south of Brookings, at least not on the coast.

Your right, it is hard to find lodging. Their cabins almost always have elk. I didn't stay at them, but would if I ever went back. They looked good. I stopped and bought a coke off of them at their little store they have.

In Brookings all the rooms at Best Western Beachfront Inn have great ocean views.
In Crescent City the Hampton Inn is on the water and it has a few rooms with balconies overlooking the ocean.
There are also places in Trinidad that advertise ocean views, but I haven't had good luck with any place I've stayed in that town.
If you're young and impetuous, from Leggett drive to Highway 1 and then down to Jenner and over to Sepastopol (or do this on the way back to Roseburg). On this route, Mendocino is a delightful little town. We love to walk on the Mendocino headlands. South of Mendocino there are B&Bs with ocean views.

You will have seen most of the great ocean views by the time you leave Oregon. Stay in Crescent City or the little town of Klamath at the Ravenwood Motel. If you have an extra hour or two, make a stop at the "Trees of Mystery". You can ride a gondola to the top of the mountain where you can see the ocean if it is not foggy.
If the weather is nice, take a drive through Redwood NP to see some really big trees.
