Where to see writers in NYC ?

Not a regular question...But where writers hang out ? Which «cafes», restaurants, clubes, Sts, etc...when in NYC...
Example: James Joyce, Sartre, Kafka, Borges, where should they go «if» in NYC ?
Thank you.

Simon, when I have had my celebrity/writer sightings, they have been in the most unlikely places, the Starbucks on Columbus Avenue, small cafes in Soho.Sometimes you will see someone like Eric Begosian in SOho, he lives there..also the Mercer Hotel, they have an excellent brunch on Sundays that attract a lot of interesting people.Have fun~candice
