Where to park?

We are driving up from Atlantic City and would like to park the car & ride the subway into the city. We'll be staying for 4 days. Where do you suggest we park the car? What is the rate and is it safe?

Thanks much!

There are no "subways" that are convenient to arriving from Atlantic City. A friend who lives near Baltimore often drives to Metropark, NJ. There you can park inexpensively (about $5 per day) in a large parking structure next to the train station and take a New Jersey Transit train ($8) into New York/Penn Station.

Depending on how many people "we" is and how many days you're visiting, if the idea of parking outside Manhattan is to save money, it doesn't always work out that way. Iconparking.com will have a garage near most hotels in Manhattan that will be a lot cheaper than regular hotel parking. As mentioned, there are no subways outside the city limits so you'll be paying for commuter trains or buses which are not always that inexpenisve. Metropark is probably the best location from Atlantic City. The train is something like $8/person each way and takes ~ 40 mins. to NYC Penn station.
