where to milk a cow in lancaster pa?

I know this sounds crazy but my 15year old daughter has asked for the experience of milking a cow for Christmas. I figure Lancaster is probably the cloest place to Pittsburgh I'll be able to give her this gift. Any rec. on a place I would be able to do this?

I believe this is where friends of mine stayed once for a summer vacation -- they enjoyed it, but it was years ago.

I surprised myself when I entered

Are you sure you can't milk a cow somewhere around Pittsburgh?

OMG, the Old Fogie farm is still open? I took my kids there for a weekend 20 yrs ago to milk cows, ride their pony, pick strawberries, gather eggs from the hen house, and pet the pot belly pig. It is nice to know they are still around.

Vale Wood Farms is a lot closer to Pittsburgh. Loretto is not too far from Altoona. http://www.valewoodfarms.com/
I'm sure they can show your daughter how to milk a cow.

Wow I had no idea this even existed. Guess if you go to a farm, you can always try to request. lol

Or just start milking and see what happens.

um, its the four little spouts that hang down just in front of the back legs. Grab a couple and start pullin.....better let the cow know that you are coming to do this as they are a little nervous about strangers grabbing their ....um....spouts

kat, seriously, you are a great parent for making her wish come true.

Call your local agricultural extension office (check Penn State under county offices usually) and see what they might be able to find. May have to go a county over from Pbgh.

Very sweet and thoughtful gift!

Have you thought of looking around Pittsburgh for a farm.

Sorry this is not timely but we had a lovely family vacation including the Eby Farm B&B, just a few miles outside Lancaster, and we milked cows, fed chickens, had the whole farm experience. Very hospitable. Rooms are, I would say, nice but rustic. Our kids are much younger--7, 5, and 2, and still enjoyed it.
