Where to Honeymoon
My Finance and I originally wanted to go to The Royal Hideaway in Playa Del Carmen Mexico but have decided we want to stay in the states. We live in Maine and will be taking a 5 day honeymoon, so we don't want to have a long flight due to the shortness of the trip. Does anyone have any suggestions on where we should go in Florida for a romantic honeymoon....we basically want to relax but have the option to go out to some nice restaurants, maybe a few shops. I am big on a very nice accomadations that's why we origianlly picked the Royal Hideaway. We will be traveling June 16th. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If money is no object then look into Little Palm Island.
|
not usa but have you considered Bermuda?
|
WOW I just looked into Little Palm Island and that goes for $600.00 a night. Unfortunetly money is an object! But that looks beautiful. We probably don't want to spend more then 300.00 a night. I like the idea that The Royal Hideaway was an all inclusive and from what I hear a very nice one. Bermuda is a thought, although many people have said that might be boring.

Whatta about further south in the Florida Keys like Key West?
|
We were just engaged in Key West this November and we loved it there, plan to go back but not for our honeymoon. To the person recommending Bermuda do you recommend one place over another? And is there a better part to stay as far as being closer to things?
|
Little Palms sister hotel is in Key West and it is beautiful! Ocean Key resort.

What about The Registry Resort or the Ritz-Carlton in Naples,
or
The Breakers in Palm Beach,
Boca Raton Resort and Club
Or
Cheeca Lodge, The Moorings or Chesapeake Resort in the Keys?
Don Cesar in St. Pete's Beach?
Sunset Key Guest Cottages by Hilton in Key West?
HAWAII.....nuff said.

I think I would head to breakers myself never been. I also would consider I might have this name wrong but the Cordova hotel in San Diego.

Not sure if you are looking for isolation? What about some of the national parks. There are some amaizing Century old Lodges out that. There is one in Glacier National Park. I have seen it on car commercials. Anyone know what I am talking about? It is on the border or in British Columbia which might bounce it out of consideration for you. Would love to tell you that hotel name.

found it http://www.princeofwaleswaterton.com/

Just a reminder as to what is available to you in the national parks. This is in Canada but near enough

Good luck

Oh and that was hotel Del Coronado in San Diego

Betsy, you and you finance?

South Florida is great for honeymoons. Ft. Lauderdale, Jupiter, Boca Raton, Miami/South Beach, Fla-Keys, and Naples would all be great.

Betsy,
I don't know if you should go to Flordia (in June) for your honeymoon. It's going to be hot and very crowded with lots of families (summer vacation for most school age children starts in June). Here are a few places you might consider: Little St. Simon Island, Georgia; Mackinac Island, Michigan; San Francisco, California; Bald Head Island, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina. I'll throw out my favorite romantic retreat -- it's sheer bliss -- but not for everyone. Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, New York. It's such an amazing place. It's very secluded and you'd think you were in the Alps. The food and service are world class. Every day there are lots of things to do (swimming, hiking, horseback riding, golf, tennis, a spa) or you can choose to do nothing. The rooms in the house are beautiful -- you can choose a suite or a single room. Almost all of the rooms have balconies looking out over the mountains. The weather in June should still be cool in the mountains of NY. If you're interested, their Web address is: mohonkmountainhouse.com

Betsy, I would recommend San Diego. There is a lot to do there and you would not be bored. Have you considered Puerto Rico? It is a U.S Territory, has a lot of nightlife, history, and culture. It is about a 3 hour flight.

I just got all of your ideas and will look into them all, thank you! I never thought of Canada...it's a thought. To the person crapping on me about spelling fiance wrong this isn't a spelling bee, I am just having a bad day typing. Why do people correct a simple mistake like that when you knew damn well what I meant! hahahaha!!

Definitely consider Canada, especially Quebec city (we went there for our honeymoon, it was awesome!), or Banff. Quebec city was awesome, you can stay at some really nice hotels (especially the Chateau Frontenac), right on the water, there's a ton of stuff to do, the food is AWESOME but cheap! It felt like Paris really without the Eiffel Tower (and I've been to Paris).

I've never been to Banff, but have heard great things about it. You will especially like it if you like outdoorsy stuff such as hiking, bicycling,etc...It's a very relaxed place, not much partying going on though (Quebec city has more partying at cute cafes and clubs). Look up the Fairmont Hotels anywhere in Canada, you're guaranteed to get a nice hotel.

And to top it all off, you could splurge alot more in Canada because of the currency exchange ($1 US + $1.50 CAN).

To [email protected]: Assuming you are the same person that replied about the Florida Keys and the "finance" jab, take a look at your
replies . . . "Whatta about"???? and "You and You Finance" Come on, if you are going to make fun of someone, make sure you proofread first - learn to type before you edit someone else's comments. Now, back to the honeymoon topic. . . If you are thinking about Canada and only going for five days, I would go to PEI or Nova Scotia before heading out West. Just a thought.

Yeah but Celine Quebec is almost a short drive from Maine. Don't you think a honeymoon should be more exotic.

I was going to suggest Chataue FRONTENAC (sp?) myself but I would save that for a long weekend.

Betsey did you ever look up the Prince of whales hotel? Pick my suggestion, pick my suggestion. :):)

yeah, but don't you see the irony in, "I am big on a very nice accomadations that's why we origianlly picked the Royal Hideaway"? just too funny.....
