Where to have supper between Sedona and Page?

We'll be staying in Sedona for a few days in a couple of weeks, and will be driving to Page from there. Actually, we'll be driving from Clarkdale, as we're taking the Verde Canyon train trip, which arrives back around 5:00 P.M., and leaving from there. Mapquest says it's about a four hour drive. We'll need to stop somewhere along the way to eat. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something resonably quick and decent close to the highway, but not McDonalds or its ilk, either. I suppose Wendy's would do in an absoloute pinch, they seem to be the best of the fast food places - but something like Denny's, Friendly's, or Cracker Barrel might do (not sure what they have in that part of the country). If anyone knows of something even better than those, great. It seems like there's nothing much between Flagstaff and Page, is that right? Should we stop in Flagstaff? The sun will set around 7:00, so it would be nice to see as much of the scenic countryside before it gets dark and not stop until faryer up the road, but I know how easy it is to drive right past the one, two or three exits in a town looking for a place to eat, then find yourseldf with no options for a long time. We'll at least see some of the scenery we missed in the dark when we head back to the Grand Canyon a couple of days later. Yes, I know it would have been smarter to do the GC between Sedona and Page, but I booked our lodging there several months ago, before I knew the rest of our schedule, and I can't change that now! Thanks for any advice about where to stop and eat.

Boy, will I be happy when Fodor's finally comes up with an option to go back and edit an entry after it's been posted. Sorry about those typos!

My parents stayed overnight at the Cameron Trading Post http://www.camerontradingpost.com/

on a trip from Tucson to Lake Powell, and they just loved it, both the lodge and the restaurant.

Another vote for Cameron. Love those Navajo Tacos!
Tovarich, were you thinking of Beaver Street Brewery, south of the railroad tracks?

Thanks, everyone, it sounds like Cameron is the right place to stop. Is it obvious where it is when you're driving up 89? The web site didn't give an address or driving directions.

Cameron!! Don't forget to pet the wonderful dog that you'll meet in the beautiful courtyard of the motel. Tell her that I'm thinking of her, very often!

The Verde Canyon RR returns at 6.30pm. Sedona might be a better stop. Lots of places. Picazzos (fantastic pizza, "Where Pizza is Art"). Also some good Tex-Mex places along 89.
Cameron Trading place will be at least 2 hrs from Clarkdale. So would be near 8.30 when you get there.

To gcmaven; That's right Beaver street brewery. It was already dark and we had just seen the beautiful station when we asked a local woman sitting on her doorstep direction for a good restaurant and she advised the brewery. We had a great time there tasting the home brewed fruit beers. We even encountered a group of countrymen who had just visited the Grand Canyon. Greetings from Belgium.Paul

Correction, there is a 1-5 VCRR trip on certain days. If that is when you travel, then Cameron Trading Post would be good and fun.

Yes, the trip we are taking does return at 5:00, so we should have time to make it to Cameron in time to eat. But since we'll be in Sedona for a few days, maybe we'll give Picazzos a try. Thanks!
