I think it's at the Inn at Spanish Bay--anyone know the name of the bar or where the firepit is located? Do you have to pay the entrance fee for 17 mile drive?

I've done 17-Mile Drive a couple of times and I remember a small fee being charged per car...maybe $8 or $9? We had lunch in the Pebble Beach Terrace Lounge overlooking #18 and gave the waiter our receipt. The entrance fee was deducted from our lunch tab. I vaguely remember the guard at the entrance gate telling us to do that. I just don't know if it applies to all restaurants along 17-Mile Drive or just the ones at Pebble Beach.

I have not seen the bag piper, but I did a google search. Here's a May '07 comment from www.yelp.com about Roy's at Spanish Bay:

The view is amazing and if you go at sunset, you can watch the bagpiper playing on the 18th hole (or is the 1st?) and watch the sun slowly fade behind the ocean horizon...

So I guess it's Roys! I haven't eaten there...only had Bloody Mary's one morning at sat by the fire at Spanish Bay Inn. It's a special place. <)

The Inn at Spanish Bay. You can sit out on their patio by the fire, order a drink and take it all in. The bagpiper strolls the lawn of the entire property. Times vary according to sunset so call the inn to find out what time for a specific date.

Yes--there is an outdoor bar at spanish bay. The piper normally begins about 30-45 minutes before sunset, starts at the first tee for a while, then walks down the first hole, then up the second hole, and at that time the piper is at the outdoor bar. The piper normally continues to play for a while by the bar.

to drive to spanish bay, you do need to go on 17 mile drive.

If you spend over $20 at the patio area at Spanish Bay they refund you the gate fee.

Actually, there's no bar outside. There are waiters who stroll out of the bar in the lobby and out to the patio.
