Where to go on SE USA coast in November

DH and I, suddenly find ourselves with the first week of November open for travel and are looking for suggestions for a trip (flying out of Chicago) We travel quite a bit, but have never been to NC, SC, or Georgia. Would November be a good time to visit Charleston, Savannah, and/or Outer Banks area? Don't want to spend too much time driving but don't know how much time to allocate to each area. Last spring we had a beautiful drive up the coast of California and Oregon. Any area along the Southeast coast that is worth driving for the scenery? Cool weather not a problem.

Appreciate any suggestions.

you may first want to check into prices/flight from Chicago and into Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Wilmington (NC) or Savannah and decide from there. The coast is very beautiful and different that time of year. There are changes in the color of the marsh grass just like leaves change colors and it can still be quite mild and even warm that time of year.

Agree - stay further south. Outer Banks is nice but very far from Charleston/Savannah and is better enjoyed in warmer weather.

Thanks all. We booked flights into/out of Charleston. We have 6 days/nights. Thinking 3-4 days in Charleston, 1-2 in Savannah, is that about right? Should we do Savannah as a day trip or plan overnight? Anyplace else in that vacinity we should check out? Would like to book rooms for some nights before we leave. Thanks again.

It's over a hundred miles so might be far for just the day. and you'll enjoy spending the night. Stop in Beaufort on the way down or back.
There is plenty to do in Charleston for that time--the plantations and all.

Savannah is worth spending a couple nights.

3-4 days in Charleston, 1-2 days in Savannah,

perfect plan. I agree with leahinsc - visit both cities.

How about the Keys & Key West (from Miami). That is a pretty nice drive.
