Where to go - Key West or Vegas?
If you could go to either Key West or Vegas for 4th of July week which would you choose and why? Trying to make this decision tonight with my husband! He has been to Vegas before, I have not. I've been to Key West for a day trip, but not over night. We both liked our trips and both want to go back to each place.
Our interests: We're not "go go go" kind of people. Like to take it easy, but have a list of things to do and see. Non smokers, like to shop and eat on vacation. I'm pregnant so we would most be taking it pretty easy either place. Vegas appeals to us because of gambling and shows; Key West appeals to us because of the lazy attitude and sitting by the pool thoughts. What are your opinions? |
As much as I like Vegas and dislike Florida (based on my one trip), I'd go to Key West if I were you. Vegas will be ridiculously HOT, and it's smokers mecca. As a non-smoker, it's one of my few dislikes about the place. Being pregnant, I'd think you would want to avoid it even more.
I don't know anything about Key West so I won't comment. |
Ouch! Vegas and Key West would not be at the top of my list if I were pregnant just because of the heat and especially the humidity in Key West.
Between the two I guess I'd have to opt for Key West because I think it is more relaxing of the two. What is your point of origination? The flying time could also swing my opinion. |
Even though I love to recommend people come visit Vegas, I would say do Key West this time. A couple of reasons, 1) being that you are pregnant, and you don;t really want to be sitting in smoky casinos while you are pregnant. 2) it is hot here in July, not much humidity, but it is really like an oven hot, that time of year (actually from now until beginning of Oct.) us locals really try to hibernate inside and finds way to keep cool. Let's put it this way, I went to the grocery store this morning at 7:30 because I wanted to get my errands done before it got too hot....to late, it was already over 90 at that time! Will only be worse in July. Yep, I would much rather head to the water (Key West) in July!

Well I am going to throw in my 2 cents for it is worth. It has been many a year since I was in Vegas but my husband and I are headed there on Wed. I have been to Key West for one day. One day was enough for me. Both will be extremely warm key west hot sticky and humid. There isn't even a beach to speak of there as I recall. It lacks for real entertainment in my opinion. I would opt for Vegas. There you could at least lounge by a gorgeous pool, many to choose from I might add and have a plethora of other entertainment and restaurants to choose from as well. You could also spend a day at a spa and have a Pregnancy massage or whatever you would like to treat yourself with. I doubt Key west offers anything along those lines. Smoke and all Vegas gets my vote hands down. You can still be lazy in Vegas if you choose to do so.

I do love Vegas but as others pointed out, the smoke factor prob isn't the best for the baby. Key West seems more relaxing, even if it will be more humid.
