Where to go in May for tropical foreign travel?

I am looking for a foreign tropical vacation place mid May 2012? Looking for beaches, shopping/dining, nightlife, possible day trips to other islands. Looking at Fiji but it may be out of my budget. Any other ideas or suggestions? I have already been to Costa Rica, so looking for a new area to explore.
Thanks!

Puerto Vallarta Mexico is lovely in May. It's technically off-season so rental prices are low, but early enough in the year it's not yet the summer/rainy season.

Other ideas..

Negril Jamaica.

Mayan Riviera side of Mexico (Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, around but not in Cancun).

Perhaps you would get more results on one of the other forums, like Asia and Pacific or Mexico etc.

We went to Bali a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The flight is long and can be pricey, but once you get there, you can stay very inexpensively.

Am a big fan of Hawaii - and you can get your shopping fix in Waikiki, Honolulu on Oahu, and then get to an outer Island to find the "old Hawaii".

BTW - in May in Hawaii - if you get rain, it will be warm and probsbly pass over you in a few minutes. We had the top down on a convertible once when driving around Oahu, and had some rain - and by the time we pulled over to put it up - the rain had stopped.

Hawaii's a great destination! I was assuming this person's from the U.S. so not sure it counts for the "foreign" part of the request.

In May, I like the Mayan Riviera, stay in Akumal, Isla Mujeres, maybe rent a car and drive inland fora few days to visit ruins and colonial cities. Weather is great there that time of year.
