Where to go in January?

Hi,

I have a free ticket with Continental and it has to be used by Jan 31 and has to be anywhere within the 48 states. It will be my husband and I and we're looking for ideas of where to go in January for about 4 days. We are flying from New Jersey. We're up for any suggestions.

Thanks in advance!!!

I don't know what, if any, impact the fires had, but I'd go to San Diego. Flights to San Diego are usually expensive. This would be a very nice January destination and you would definitely get a lot of value for your voucher.

I would stay close to the east coast as flying to cal. will take a large bite out of your time at your destination. What do you want to do? Sightsee?? Relax?? Spa? Beach?

I am going to Albuquerque, NM Jan 13-18.

Before that, I took a short cruise out of LA in January. The weather was perfect.

I have to agree with only 4 days I would stay closer on the east coast or flying time will take it all up. It would help if you would state what you had in mind? I am assuming warm weather is on the agenda? Spas? I would go to West Palm Beach Fort lauderdale the florida keys, is one of my favs. Or Siesta beach on the gulf side. What is your budget? If you give more imput I am sure people will respond. That is a 2 hour flight from NJ if you want to go further perhaps Puerto Rico.

if you can get an early morning flight if you go west you'll be at your destination by noon on most direct flights. so you would have 2.5 days in a western location. if that is the case, you might want to try Las Vegas, if you like skiing, denver or salt lake city, lake tahoe

if you want more time, New Orleans, florida locations Puerto rico may be considered domestic but it is also a 4 hour flight. which is longer than denver.

if you do head to denver salt lake or tahoe you do need to be aware of weather conditions.

you could also try palm springs, another west flight

also someone may be able to give you info on charleston or savannah in jan.

Charleston was great - we had fun touring all the old plantations, really good food also, but might be a bit chilly in January - probably 40s, 50s. If you're not looking for warm weather, it would be a great spot.

You can go to New Orleans - it's around Mardi Gras time. Or you can go to Florida for beach weather.

New Orleans comes to mind.

The weather will be better than New Jersey and there's plenty to do. If you schedule early in January you could catch the Sugar Bowl.
