Where to go in February??
 

Hubby and I have traveled to Florida in Febrary the past two years, but are beginning to think outside that box for 2009. We live in Kentucky, so Florida is a pretty convenient drive. Besides that, I have wonderful relatives there, but February isn't their best time for visitors. So...any suggestions? We're wanting some place warm, but not necessarily hot, and we're not interested in Hawaii. If you had my time and could spend my money, where would you go? Thanks!

Charleston, San Diego or Austin, TX....or Tucson.....Have fun!

I would spend your money in Tucson. Beautiful scenery. Great resorts. Abundant activities. Mild climate.

Do you need an address to forward the funds?

New Orleans is quite nice in February, as long as Mardi Gras is not going on during your stay (unless that is what you are looking for).

Ahhh...the Caribbean mahn. Go post in that section. That blue-blue water, laid back rum drink filled days. That is the place for everyone in February.

Scottsdale, Arizona

Although Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tucson Arizona is hot, I would go there when the Grand Canyon area isn't so cold. IMO, sightseeing is limited in Sun Valley.

I prefer San Antonio, Austin and the Hill Country (e.g. Fredricksburg). Texas is not that warm in February, but nicer than April/May when it gets hot & humid.

Hello mkdiebold, it might be considered too far away for you two but my late husband and I always enjoyed the west coast of Mexico during the month of Mexico. Weather always seemed perfect, blue sky and sunshine but not hot. It was his birthday month and in that Northern California usually (not always but usually) had winter weather it was perfect for us. We would go to PV or Maztalan (hope I spelled that correctly, sigh).

Arizon sounds good...have already been to Sedona and north to both rims of the Grand Canyon. Fantastic! Haven't been to Tucson. That could be an interesting trip, since my father was stationed there part of the time of his military duty. I've heard stories about it's beauty!

San Diego is another possibility. My husband has been to California, but I've not visited there. I've been wanting to do the wine country. Maybe we'll head west!

Have already been to Charleston and New Orleans...no real interest in the Caribbean. Imagine that!

If you have in interest in the SW you might also try Taos/ABQ, NM. From Ky. you can also hop on the Natchez Trace which will lead you to Natchez & Vicksburg, MS.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The weather at that time of year is perfectly warm without being too hot.

Would also suggest Tucson and SE AZ for great weather, a wide variety of things to see such as historical sights, Titan missle site, Pima air museum, Tombstone for "wild west" tourist attractions, Bisbee for birds, shopping and mining camp history, Katchner Caverns, San Xavier Mission for beauty and history, Sonoran Desert Museum, Sabino Canyon for hiking, Madera Canyon for birds and nature, Tubac for art and unique shopping. It is a little early for the desert to be in bloom, but it is interesting anytime. Of course there are many golf courses. Anything specific you are looking for?

CollegeMom...what we've done in the past is rent a condo for the month and explore the area (within a days drive) around it. We like nature and history over glitz and commercial entertainment. We're in our 60's, enjoying great health, and possessing a sense of adventure. Have you suggestions for a specific location in the area you mentioned? Would renting in Tucson be a good hub location? Is the area terribly expensive? We're probably going to Europe this year, so can't spend all the savings in February!
