where to go from NYC? Ideas please.........

I have a free companion ticket from Delta expiring end of July so don't have much time. Last big domestic trip was to Napa, Sonoma Valley and San francisco. Really like those places because we like food. We love seafood and nature. Don't want to run into natural disaster like dust storm or tornados. Hot weather is Ok as long as it's pleasant, any ideas? Thanks in advance

Seattle area sounds like a good bet. I've never been but would like to go someday!

Good idea, ekscrunchy. The weather is a little gloomy today but mohan can expect good weather here as July progresses.

We have great restaurants and Seattle has one of the most scenic settings of any city anywhere.

If you come to Seattle, include Poppy on your restaurant list. You will have a unique and delicious meal that you won't soon forget.

Thankyou both. I do have Seattle on my mind but not this time. I always think of Seattle and Canada as one big trip. Since I don't have much time to plan and I have to return by end of July, that whole trip has to wait. Please keep ideas coming.

Portland, Oregon would also be a good choice ... close to beautiful natural areas with a lively food and wine scene. Good wineries are a day-trip from Portland by car.

I'd also consider Salt Lake City if you want proximity to nature and don't mind driving a bit.

Depending upon how far you want to travel, how about Myrtle Beach (with a drive to Charleston) SC, or San Diego, CA? Just stay away from Southern California the weekend of July 16-17, when portions of the 405 fwy will be closed. It's expected to impact other roads throughout Southern California.

Thanks Doug and nohogal.
