Where to go for XMas?

My husband and I are looking to go away over the Christmas holiday - thinking it could be our last chance before having children. Could anyone recommend a short trip - maybe 4 days - that would be worthwhile. Thanks.

New York City?

What do you consider worthwhile?

Where are you coming from?

Hot weather?

Cold weather?

Resorty?

City?

We are actually going to New Orleans between XMas & New Years & leaving our 2 little ones w/the Grandparents. This will be our first trip sans children since the second one was born in April. (Assuming my wife has him 'weaned' by then.) There are typically cheap flights (ours were like $210) & reasonably priced hotels abound as long as you don't run into New Years weekend.

Leave just outside NYC. Not concerned about the weather. Looking for something with a little culture and a little fun but mostly something that we will enjoy our time together. Any help?

The downtown riverwalk area of San Antonio is the best Christmas destination in America. A Xmas river parade, millions of lights on trees, bars, restaurants, warm weather, and romantic. Its like you are in Spain for Christmas. Make sure you get a downtown hotel. No rental car needed. Make reservations ASAP because hotels fill up fast.

This is dumb.
4 days from where?
I predict that when mc_mc returns to this thread, the reply will be, "Oh, no, we couldn't go there. It's simply out of our budget." And then the whole thing will start over based on one parameter.
Jeez, lady, buy a clue!

Jeez fehgeddaboudit, don't get your drawers in a wad! mc meant a 4 day vacation, not a vacation 4 days away. Maybe she could buy a clue and give it to you!

No, jorron, you don't get it.
Knowing her origination city helps define "short trip". If, for example, she lives in Miami, FL then a trip to Fairbanks, AK is not the same as if she lived in Seattle and went to Fairbanks. The distance variance between the two cities of origin makes Fairbanks a bad idea from Miami, but not so bad from Seattle. It would consume too much time within the prescribed 4-day duration.

mc is leaving from just outside NYC.

Go to Paris.

jorr Aug 11th, 2005 09:31 PM

fehg, FYI she said she is leaving just outside NYC. Can you read? She doesn't live in Miami nor Seattle and most likely has no interest in going to Fairbanks. You are totally missing her question. You still don't get it. Why don't you give her some destination advise like the rest of us.
