Where to go for a vacation in september 1st week
 

I am planning to go on road trip in september 1st week, northwest( oregon, seattle, montana), please adivce on what are all places to see.

Holy wide open West. I think you can do Oregon and some of Washington in a week - but Montana is a bit of a distance, even by Western driving standards - so you might have to choose between the two if you only have a week, or really be a road warrior. :)

And if you had more specific questions - I think you would get better/more helpful responses.

Thanks tom, I have one week time to cover oregon/washington, but i am looking some itinery which could cover places in a loop so that i can come back to the same place to catch flight. If any one has done washington / oregon in one week please share your experiences and places covered.

What is the possiblity of rain during september 1st week in oregon / washington, i want to do one hike in oregon and one in washington, have any body taken guided hike please share details.

This might work for you. Fly to PDX and rent a car. Drive east on I-84 less than an hour to Multnomah Falls. Hike up to the top for a great view of the Columbia Gorge.
Spend a night in Hood River. The next day cross the river to Bingen and take Rt. 14 west to Carson. Take the paved Forest Service road north past the east side of Mt. St. Helens. Take the side road over to Windy Ridge Viewpoint. From there go north to Randle Washington. Spend a night in Packwood WA.
Drive through Mt. Rainier NP taking Rt. 7 south back to US 12 west to get back to I-5. Take the car back to PDX. Take the Trimet lightrail from the airport to downtown Portland. Try to catch the Amtrak Empire Builder (late afternoon) all the way to Whitefish Montana. Rent a car from Whitefish or the Kalispell airport. find out if the Going to the Sun Road is open all the way through. Return the car to Kalispell and fly to an airport you can get home from.

In a week I would include Mt. Rainier, the Columbia River Gorge, and the Oregon coast from Cannon Beach to Cape Perpetua (just north of Florence). I would select from the following destinations, as time permits: Seattle, Portland, Olympic National Park, San Juan Islands, Mount St Helens, and Mt Hood.
