Where to go for a long weekend in January?

Hi Fodorites,
DH and I are thinking about taking a long weekend (3-4, maybe 5 nights) vacation in January. What are some good locations? We'd like to see some sights-- we love scenery, driving around, and activities (not really hiking for long periods). To give you an idea, our favorite trip together was to SF/Napa Valley/Ft. Bragg. We've also been to NYC, all over Florida, all over CO, Chicago, Vegas, and many other places.

A couple places I'm considering:
Sedona, AZ or another city in the southwest US-- any suggestions?
San Antonio, TX
Charleston or Savannah

Any other recommendations/suggestions? We're from MN so let's avoid the snow and aim for jeans-and-a-light-shirt-type weather for mid-January :)

I know very little (other than what I've seen searching the boards) about the places I've listed.

We would like to keep air/hotel to about $1000-$1200 if possible, and could rent a car.

Thanks in advance!
Liz

I'd check into Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Here's a vote for Sedona! You can't beat the scenery there and drives around that area are just breathtaking. Lots of great Indian Ruins, cliff dwellings, and cave art around there too. Great shopping, good eats and no shortage of places to hike and explore.

Never been there in January so I can't speak to the temps. We were there in August. Stayed at the Sedona Hilton and it was lovely and I thought reasonable in price.

San Diego? Nice weather and a ton of things to do.

San Antonio is a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want you to think it is always warm down there. Texas weather in January is notoriously unpredictable. It could be icy and snowy, or it could be warm enough for a T-shirt and jeans.

I saw the replies, and thought "yes! San Diego." The weather is beautiful and the beaches come complete with seals. Have fun.

Thanks everyone!
After doing more research last night, I am thinking Sedona. Maybe we can push it back a month to enjoy warmer weather-- otherwise anything is warmer than MN in January :)
I'll keep San Antonio and San Diego in mind too.
Thanks again.
