Where to go for 2 nights on East Coast

My husband and I have a one-year old and have the opportunity to get away for the first time without the baby for 2 nights the second weekend in November. I would love to get any advice you have on locations. We are looking for:

* Someplace close to Washington, DC (up to 3 hour flight) and direct, if possible.
* A nice hotel (we are willing to splurge a bit on this one since we don't get out often anymore)
* Could be a city or small town, but with good restaurants and great scenery.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Savannah, Charleston, Boston (if you don't mind raw weather), Bermuda.

Philadelphia could be very interesting for 2 days; there is plenty to do.
Montreal might also be an idea; it would be about a 2 hour flight. My husband and I had a great time there last December.
And, of course, there is always New York.

Charleston would be nice and the weather could be warm. In 2004 friends and I had a fabulous trip to New Orleans on Veteran's Day weekend so we could do three nights.

what about Berkley Springs, WV??

you could drive there, maybe 1.5 to 2 hours from DC, depending on where you live. they have so many nice B&B's and the whole town thrives around the hotsprings and spa/massage scene. it's a small town, but very artsy/folksy with some cute little restaurants. by not spending on airfare, you could put that money toward a nicer room and some massages and meals.

St Michaels, MD is about a 2 hour drive from Wash DC:

The second week end in Nov is the date for nearby Easton, MD's Waterfowl Festival:

Thank you so much for all of your help! I think we are going to go to Florida since my husband will already be there for a business trip.

Charlottesville makes for a lovely 2 day trip and there are a couple of beautiful resort hotels there.

What about NYC? The shuttle (or Amtrak) are easy as pie and lots to see and do here.

Kind of depends on what you'd like to do/see -- do you just want to relax? or go?
