Where to go between Palm Springs and Las Vegas?

We'll be spending a week in PS and want to spend three nights in Vegas. But we have an extra night between these two cities. We will be driving. Any suggestions?

You could take a drive up to Big Bear Lake or Arrowhead. Take the 10 fwy west, to the 210 west, cut off to Big Bear (not sure of the hwy 136??) spend a night then back down the mountain 210 to the 15 North straigt to Vegas

Why don't you go on to Vegas after PS, and take an extra night to see the Grand Canyon from there.

Are you flying home from Vegas?

I'll check out Big Bear Lake! We have been to the Grand Canyon several times, so probably wouldn't do it again this trip. Yes, we are flying in and out of Vegas.

If you haven't been to Death Valley, that's another option. Take 247 to Victorville and I-15, then at Baker take 127 to the Park. As you leave, a better option is going to LV via Parhump and 160.

A real desert experience would be a day in Joshua tree park followed by ribs and great music at Pappy & Harriet's roadhouse in Pioneertown. Then you can rent an Airsyream trailer nearby. There's a back route to Vegas that's spectacular through the Mojave preserve. ...

Pappy & Harriet's sounds perfect! Unique and off the beaten track, plus the menu looks yummy and is reasonably priced. I think we can easily do that as a day trip from Palm Springs. Not an Airstream kind of gal though, especially since for the same price we can have a luxury suite in Vegas I'd be interested in that back route through the Mohave. Can you give specifics?

Looked at the map and Death Valley seems a little too far off route for us. But thanks boom boom.

If you decide to stay at Big Bear Lake, when you leave do not backtrack "back down the mountain 210 to the 15 North straigt to Vegas." Instead, take the 18 to the east and north down the mountain, then the 247 to Barstow and on to LV on the I-15. It's at least an hour faster.
