Where to fly into-Napa/Sonoma
 

Hey everyone-have a general itinerary laid out for my honeymoon-now I need advice on where to fly in and out of.

We are planning on starting out with 2 nights in the Napa/Sonoma area making our way down to Carmel for 3 nights then ending with 2 nights in San Fran.

What is the most logical way for us to book our flights?

Any advice would be more than appreciative.

Whether Oakland would be better than Sacramento or even SFO will depend on:
-weekday vs. weekend
-time of day (rush hour vs. not)
-which airline you're planning on using
-how much flexibility you'll have by airline based on specific airport.

The best answer to your question is variable depending on specifics.

Without knowing where you are flying from, or other variables, the most sensible booking would be to simply fly in and out of SFO. It will only take you about 2 hours to drive to Napa from the airport, and you'll have an easy departure.

Oakland Airport would be my next choice. Sacramento seems quite out of the way to me, especially since you are ending up in SF.

sorry for not being clear. I am flying out of Newark NJ and would like to use Continental if possible. They would both be Sunday flights-preferably early in the day.

We do not have to fly in and out of the same airport. Definitely fly out of SFO I guess. Just wasnt sure what made the best sense in terms of flying in and going to Napa.

So really our options are SFO and Oakland?

The drive from Oakland Airport to Napa will be a little shorter than from SFO. But if you fly in and out of different airports, will you get charged a drop fee on your rental car?
