Where to eat in Towson, MD

My daughter and I will be spending a night in Towson this Sunday. We're staying at the Sheridan North (via priceline). We will have a car. Any dining suggestions? We eat almost anything and just want a nice & relaxing evening meal.

ALso, if anyone knows the approx. driving time to Towson from NYC let me know. I'm thinking about 3.5 hrs. We'll probably leave late Sunday morning so hopefully, won't hit much traffic. We'll be returning Monday early afternoon.

Thanks.

I used to live in Bmore, and was just visiting my old friend, Lisa, this summer. She lives in Towson, near Goucher College. We had a terrific lunch at the cafe in Nordstrom's in the Towson Mall. I was really surprised how good it was. There is also a Rainforest Cafe and a Bahama Breeze in the mall.

There is a really good, famous sushi place in Towson (I was there once). Maybe someone at your hotel (or here) could give you directions. Everyone knows it.

Across the street from Barnes/Noble is the Towson Deli.

I know of other restaurants in the Towson area, but you would have to get on the beltway and drive. Do you want to do this? There are many, many terrific restaurants in Canton and Federal Hill.

It takes at least 1 1/2-2 hours from Bmore to Philly. I think it will take you much longer than 3 1/2 hours from Manhattan.

I just emailed my friend, Lisa, and she replied:

The Melting Pot on York Rd.
The Greene Turtle

Sushi Hana is the name of the sushi restaurant.

My daughter is a student at Towson. She is always raving about Bahama Breeze. The Rainforest Cafe is also nice. Towson is a great area. You can walk from your hotel to T.G.I.F. or other restaurants.

Takes me just over 3 hours from northern NJ to get to Towson U. You can easily drive it in 3.5 hours. Off course, Deleware traffic can really mess it up

I live 25 miles west of the GW bridge

Thanks. ZZ, we're touring Towson U on Monday morning.

MFNYC,
Towson is a GREAT school! I graduated in '03. All the restaurant recommendations are great another I would add is Bill Bateman's Bistro. It's a burger/wing place but its on the campus (corner of York and Cross Campus). Good food and not to expensive.
I was in Towson 2 weeks ago and there is construction on 95 in Delaware, goes from 4 lanes to 2 and can be a long backup! Just keep that in mind.
Hope you have a great time there!

My friend went to the Melting Pot and had a lovely dinner only last week after visiting Inner Harbor.

Depends on your budget. There is an outstanding Italian restaurant in the heart of Towson called Cafe Troia but it is pricey. Also there is Thai One On which is moderate (Thai of course). Next door is a sushi place. There is also Penang, a nice Malaysian restautant.

If you want to venture further into town (Baltimore), there are lots of great places along Charles Street.

Just as a followup, we did tour Towson and stayed at the Sheraton.

My daughter received her acceptance yesterday! She is delighted. ANy of you Towson connections have any comments on the art department? I know this isn't travel related, but since I thought I'd ask anyway.
