We just arrived in SLC and are looking for a good place to eat tonight. Recs: Nothing too expensive (ie entrees under 30) and a place that serves American food. Thanks!

I hope somebody comes through for you. We picked a place that looked good but was over-priced and mediocre. Low expectations will help I think.

I love Cedars of Lebanon. Funky place. Spotty service but great food. People there are so friendly. Maybe the belly dancer will be there too.

Maybe too late for tonight, but you might enjoy The Oasis Cafe, at about 500 East and 200 South. Very interesting place, with a bookstore adjacent. They roast their own coffee, have art by local artists on the walls, and have an wide variety of foods (creative), including lots of veggie selections.

I've never recommended or taken anyone there who didn't like it. Friendly service, sometimes a little slow. They also have a nice outdoor courtyard that's shaded in the summer evenings!

I live here, so if you would like some more recos for other types of dining, check back! There are some incredible restaurants in SLC, but most of my favorites are not "American food"!
