Where to eat in Chicago

I'll be visiting Chicago at the end of this month for four days and will be staying at the Hotel 71. What are some good restaurants within walking distance where I will feel comfortable dining alone?

Alvira, by the "end of the month", do you mean the last week? The Taste of Chicago is going on at that time...you never eat alone during the Taste! :)

Seriously, though, practically any restaurant (except those specifically leaning towards the "romantic atmosphere" type) will be fine.

In what type of cuisine are you interested? And price range, of course, would assist us in making suggestions.

I enjoy trying different ethnic foods and also foods that are the specialty of the region. On my last trip I had some of the local dishes: a "real" Chicago hot dog, deep dish pizza, and have eaten a "cheesburger, cheesburger" at Billy Goat Tavern. I'm fairly flexible on the price up to about $40 for a meal. I look forward to hearing your suggestions. Thanks.

I think Bin 36 should be within walking distance to you. I ate there alone on a business trip and felt perfectly comfortable. Great food and very nice selection of wines!

I second Bin 36. There are tons and tons of restaurants nearby. Given the number of business travellers around, I'm sure you won't be alone. I think if you just hop a seat at the bar you'd be more than comfortable. Park Grille at Millenium Park ("american" cuisine) has great food and great people watching if you grab a place outside.
