where to buy real ukelele?

I just got back from Oahu today. While I was there, I really wanted to buy a ukelele but could not carry it back on the plane so I reluctantly did not buy one. Does anyone know of an online source where I could buy an authentic ukelele (not a toy). Thanks

PollyR: I googled and got lots of sites.

Not sure where you live, but any good guitar shop should also have "authentic ukelele"s.

That's a good idea. I never thought of buying one locally...DUH. LOL! I'll check out a few guitar stores here and see what I can find. If not, I'll check out the Hawaiian Ukelele company as Melissa suggested. I passed right by their store when I was on Oahu.

Kamaka Hawaii in Honolulu on South Street makes high quality ukuleles.

These seem to be super expensive on this link. But at the bottom of the page are links to many other ukulele companies & online stores.

BTW, Kamaka Hawaii has tours. Don't know if they are free. So if you return to Oahu & are looking for something different, perhaps it might interest you.

Do a search: Kamaka Hawaii & see some of their famous ukuleles.
