The place I recommended kept promising the shrimp would be in but I finally just bought some at the Pawley's Island corner in the hardware store parking lot. They were small but delicious.

Note, this was in June and a lot of it had to do with high seas that week.

Oh, Gretchen, we got some soft shell crabs when we were down over Easter...Platt's only had a few of them.

Neither of us had ever had them and they were wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is Platt's? Soft shells are probably my most favorite thing to eat.

Fresh Local Shrimp!!

We've been enjoying fresh shrimp for the past month (they opened the season earlier this year than last in SC); we go to Charleston once a month and end up buying them at Whole Foods in Mount Pleasant.

Also, Phillips Seafood in MB has opened a seafood store--we've gotten some pretty decent tuna and grouper there. They had lots of blue crab for steaming, but they probably come from the Phillipines if that is a problem for you (that's where I understand Phillips gets all or most of its crabs).

Gretchen, I'd go to Georgetown from Litchfield to get seafood, or even McClellansville, before I drove to Little River.

Oh, there are good seafood markets in Murrell's Inlet--and in particular, if soft shells are "in", a place called the Crab Company. Funny place. We have been to the market in Georgetown--interesting place. The Italian grocery out on the Bypass has been excellent for shrimp as well as a couple of places on the road in Pawley's. Definitely not driving to Cherry Grove!!
