Where to Buy Beer and Wine in Yellowstone?

I wanted to know if they sell beer in the grocery/camp stores or do you need to stock up in Jackson Hole before you head into the Tetons and Yellowstone. Do they have a liquor store where you buy all alcohol? I don't drink and drive so the bars don't work for us. Thanks

We took a case of wine that we purchased in Jackson Hole (like you, didn't know what was available).

My recollection is that the in-park stores sold a limited selection, stress limited, of beer & wine. We also bought beer at a state run store in West Montana.

I should correct my error -- I meant West Yellowstone, MT. Enjoy your trip. Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons are spectacular. I'd go back any day.

There are stores in Yellowstone that sell limited groceries, including a small sampling of beer and wine. If you are picky, I would buy ahead.

Thanks Connie.
Anything else you know now, that you wish you knew before you went to Yellowstone? gloves, hats, rain gear, soap, bug spray??

There is a store in Jackson called "The Liquor Store and Wine Loft" that has a large selection of beer/wine/liquor. As said above, in both Montana and Wyoming border towns you can get beer/wine (not liquor) 7 days a week in grocery stores although in Yellowstone Park stores, the selection may be quite limited to your basic Coors, Bud, etc and large production wines although the Old Faithful grocery store has a bit more selection (but you pay a large mark up) and sometimes you can get local microbrews.

Yellowstone and border town stores will sell you any basics you need in (bug spray, etc) but you always pay more so best to get them in grocery stores outside the park (e.g., the Albertsons in Jackson). Depending when you're going, always a good idea to have bugspray, sunscreen, and lots of layers for clothing as temps can vary massively within short periods of time.

Which direction are you planning to come in? If South, you do not have choices; Jackson Hole is your best bet. West? West Yellowstone? North? Gardiner? East? Cooke City.

As far as tips; bring binoculars, snacks, plenty wonderful picnic areas, and extra caution with buffalos roaming on to the roads.

The store at Canyon sells beer and wine, along with a surprisingly wide selection of other groceries. I don't remember if there was liquor. I'm sure you'd find a better selection and lower prices outside of the park.
