Where Should We Stay In Las Vegas?
 

My girlfriend and I are trying to decide which hotel to stay at in Las Vegas. We would like a nice room or a suite at a hotel with a great pool and (hopefully) a workout room. I have been tossing around MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Luxor and the Venetian but cannot seem to settle on one. I am very interested in hearing what others with more Vegas experience have to say.

Hi hortha,<BR><BR>For a great pool area it will be hard to beat the Mandalay Bay with the lazy river and the beach pool area with 4 ft waves every 98 seconds. There are also two ordinary pools ( the Beach and lazy river should open in April-call to conifrm).<BR><BR>The rooms at MB are also very good with amongst the best bathrooms in Vegas.<BR><BR>I have stayed at the Luxor twice- go for the tower rooms as the will have a bath &amp; shower -the pyramid rooms only have a shower and the wait at the inclinators can be a few minutes. Pool area is ordinary with 3ft 6in deep pools(4 of them ) offset by the fact that it is beside the huge pyramid.<BR><BR>In terms of prices it is likely to be<BR>(1) Venetian<BR>(2) MB/MGM<BR>(3) Luxor<BR><BR>Also note that the prices will be higher at weekends and you can get some good deals during the summer months.<BR><BR><BR>Regards<BR>TBS

When are you going, because some of the pools are closed through April. You'll need to check with the individual hotels.

If cost is a concern, you need to not only find out room prices, but work-out prices too. Most hotels charge add'l to use the fitness center and it can add up (the Venetian's is run by Canyon Ranch and costs about $30/day).<BR><BR>I would NOT consider MGM, and Luxor is out of the way and nothing special IMO. MB is nicest pool, but i'm not a fan of the location (especially at that price).<BR><BR>Why not look into the cost of a suite at Mirage? I spent a nite in a 2BR high-roller's suite there and it certainly was sweet! Their pool area is very nice as well.<BR><BR>I've also heard good things about the pool area and the &quot;upper-tier&quot; rooms at Caesar's, although i'm not such a big fan of the hotel/casino.

All the rooms at the Venetian are suite-like. They are large and awesome with beautiful marble bathrooms. By far the best standard rooms on the Strip. Good Luck !!

For you and your girlfriend I would pic Venetian. As of last tuesday the pool is still shut for renovations at Mirage. <BR><BR>Mandalay bay has a nice pull yes but is over run with kids and seems more like raging waters to me then a nice place to spend as a couple. Venetians pool area while not having the nice lazy river and beach area that MB has is conducive to a romantic vacation for 2 adults.<BR><BR>My fave pool area (not hotel) is Bellagio. Warm water, good cocktail service, sedate and relaxing.<BR><BR>I have yet to try hard rock but check out their pool it looks nice and I doubt lots of kiddies.

Try to figure out how much money you have first, then price vacations from Southwest. If money isn't an issue, I would probably stay at Caeser's Palace - great location, legendary service. But since I'm skint, I stay at the Palace Station.

I am partial to the MGM myself, having never stayed there before. I have heard really good things about the rooms and the sevice, not to mention their pool. <BR><BR>We are going to be arriving in Vegas 06Jun2003, which is a Friday so I know that the rates will be at least a little higher. <BR><BR>The occassion is my girlfriend's 21st birthday, so I gotta splurge on her, y'know?

If you're planning on staying in the area of MGM, then definitely go to MB. It's much better and worth the extra $.

I'm looking for some of the following:<BR><BR>*tropical/ animal and fish setting<BR>*romantic luxury<BR>*Pleasant ambiance<BR>*pool and gym<BR>*proximity to the strip<BR>*Night life<BR>*sexy Vegas dancers<BR>*hip clubs...<BR><BR>And what not. We've stayed at several of these....for the best room I'd opt for The Venetian, for the best pool, I'd opt for Mandalay Bay. Another consideration might be the Paris Hotel with a view of The Bellagio (see the dancing fountains)directly across the street. The rooms are standard and nothing as nice as The Venetian but the location is good and the view of the fountains is great. The Aladin also has nice standard rooms and a decent location...Ballys, Lexor are TOO BIG AND SPREAD OUT IMO...you always feel kind of lost.
