Where should we go on a romantic getaway??
My husband and I have babysitters for 4 days in the middle of November. We would like to go somewhere upscale for R&R. somewhere we would not bring kids. I will be 5 months pregnant at that time so our main goal is to find superb accommodations, a nice spa and some activities to do during the day. We live in Florida and would like to leave the state...We went to Woodlands, SC last year and loved it! Where would you recommend we go this year???
Thanks!! |
Asheville, NC. The Richmond Hill Inn, the Inn at Biltmore Estate, or the Grove Park Inn.

Grove Park Inn..handsdown over Richmond Hill. Richmond Hill is nice but much more to do at Grove Park ie spa etc.
If you definitely want to leave the state, New Orleans is very very romantic. We had a wonderful time there. There are some beautiful places to stay. Have you tried the Key Biscayne Ritz Carlton? That place is luscious and nice with a lot to do around Key Biscayne. |

In the South, it's hard to beat Asheville and Charleston for a romantic weekend. In Asheville, the previous posters nailed it. The Richmond Hill Inn, the Inn at Biltmore Estate, and the Grove Park Inn are all fantastic. Personally, I'd chose the Grove Park Inn because I love historic hotels with a warm ambience. As for Charleston, check out the Planters Inn. Perfect location, great service and romantic rooms. Charleston has many historical sights (including plantations) and an abundance of terrific restaurants.
In the Southwest, check out Santa Fe. I stayed at the Inn of the Anazasi and it was very romantic. Per Conde Nast, Santa Fe was surprisingly voted to be one of the top 5 cities to visit in the USA. |
A place I would really like to try is the Inn at Palmetto Bluff. It is brand new and it was named on Conde Nast Traveler's best new hotels. It is in Bluffton, SC. Sounds like a place you might be interested in.

Based on your criteria I would also suggest the Grove Park Inn. If you would like to stay closer to home I would select Amelia Island.
