Where should my family rent in Florida?

Hi all! My husband and I along with our 3 year old would like to begin renting in Florida during the winters months to escape our cold weather. I would love some help with suggestions of towns and areas to consider. Something family friendly would be great, close to the beach, things to do, not sure if a condo or home is better? Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are just beginning this process.
thanks so much!

I guess your husband can work from home. Is your budget unlimited? Renting "In season" at a beach in Florida can be pretty expensive.
I would also think in terms of what a 3-4 year old will need in terms of outdoor play space--as opposed to a condo in a high rise for example. Not every minute is spent on the beach.
And will he/she want to be enrolled in a school?

New Smyrna Beach or Vilano Beach close to St Augustine is very nice. Vilano if you have a dog. Flagler and St John's county allow dogs on lead on beach.
