Where should an English ouple spend there honeymoon on the coast?
After being talked out of staying in Palm Springs where should we spend the R&R section of are honeymoon???
It will be the first week in September so I would think the weather will be pretty much guaranteed where ever we stay?we love the look of Santa Barbara but its to expensive?Some where on the coast with stunning views from the pool for around $100 a night?.
Too much to ask?

You won't get anything on California's coast with "stunning views from the pool" for $100 a night (sorry, that's a laughably low figure). And I wouldn't want to stay at a property on the coast offering rooms for $100 a night, knowing CA hotels. You're going to be looking at rates starting at around $150 a night, and these won't be the best places.
I'd plan on spending more and really do it right. Could you splurge and spend upwards of $500 a night? Do I have a place for you...!!

La Jolla is a very ritzy neighborhood in San Diego, and almost all of the nice hotels are on a bluff overlooking lovely beach coves. If anything is at $150 or less, it's going to be well-inland, on the outskirts of LJ, by the freeway(s). What properties are you looking at?

The Laguna Riviera? You should do just fine. And frankly it's extremely cheap for an oceanfront hotel in the US. You're a bit south of the busiest part of Laguna Beach, which I would find a big plus. I say, grab it!

Laguna is nice, and so is nearby Newport Beach. Take a walk on Balboa Island, too, and check out the real estate prices for fun!
And if you're in the area, have an early dinner at The Crab Cooker in Newport Beach. It is a wonderfully charming and quirky place (I think they still serve on paper plates) with the best grilled seafood-- especially lobster tails-- and clam chowder anywhere. It's not fancy, but it's great food and you can't beat the price. The lines start forming early, though.
