buckeyemom, with all due respect, I think you should stop trying to talk posters out of their opinions. They don't like Ohio, you do, leave it be. Besides, your defensiveness just spurs some posters to rattle your chain even more.
I have never been to Ohio, btw.

Good for you, Buckeye Mom! I live in Cincinnati and love it. You have every right to defend your hometown. I don't care what anyone says, unless you have spent a full month visiting every city and attraction, how can you put down an entire state? If you don't like Cedar Point, fine (personally I've never been there 'cause I'd rather do other things on vacation than roller coasters). If you don't like Columbus, that's fine too - it's a college town, not a vacation hot spot.
I, however, think Cincinnati is a great place for a family vacation (if you live w/in driving distance). Great ballpark, good food, nice shopping, canoeing and lots of family friendly attractions if that's what you like. Not to mention Kentucky just across the river with lots of hiking and good old time fun.
Oh, BTW, I hated Cancun. I was sick the whole time. They say don't drink the water but it's pretty hot not to even have ice in your drink. I shall never return.

when i think about least favorite destinations i start to wonder if maybe it was more the people i was with than the destination itself....the group i was with in Ixtapa, Mexico were interested in little more than getting drunk and staying drunk....big ol' yawn...and i remember a trip to St Lucia with my brother, where he decided that i had made a bad choice of vacation destinations and spent the entire week reminding me that he wasn't happy being there. we laugh about it now, but it wasn't funny then....

I with Janny. I don't know if I'd go back to the Bahamas either. Well, I MIGHT go to one of the 'out' islands, but never to Nassau. Not as pretty than many locals I've been to and prices are insane!!! Just not worth it!
I would however go back to Mexico. Janny, don't be scared! There is so much to love about Mexico and if you're careful and take a few small precautions, no need to worry about getting sick. I'm going to Isla Mujeres in 11 days! Can't wait.
I also don't know if I'd go back to Bali either. Laungage a HUGH problem, even in the 'tourist' areas. I must admit that the shopping is great though, so maybe I'd consider it if I had a wad to spend.

This thread was started by a known troll who gets their jollies around here by asking stupid questions and watching the crapola hit the fan. IMO, this thread is useless and inance. Some of the opinions why people don't like a place are stupid. Example: GoTravel hates Ohio because her father made them vacation there. Granted Ohio may not be the most exciting place, it does have good places as well as bad. Same with everything else. Sounds to me like Go has issues with her father NOT the places where he took them. There is therapy for that. Don't foist it upon everyone here.
Bottom line-There are good and bad in every place. That is why this forum exists to steer people away from the bad to the good places. There are even good places in Nassau, Cancun, Vegas, Wisconsin and Ohio. And who you travel with makes a BIG difference in your opinion. If you are with a whiny complainer sure you are going to be negative about anywhere. Let's remember that tourism pays the bills for a lot of people ie hotel workers, restaurants, gift shops in alot of places not just New York and New Orleans but states like Ohio and Wisconsin. So quit trashing places...

My my Myrna, someone's rather touchy today. IMO a posting is not a troll if it is related to travel. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, or in this instance, do read the posting!

Myrna..You are by far the most frustrated person on this board. Talk about trolling. Most of your posts include telling everyone to "get a life". Why the anger? There is good and bad in every place and you are the BAD here.

Myrna, I agree with ahhold. You may just be the only one trolling on the board here. Someone asked a simple question and people responded. Sorry if it's not to you liking. However, if you don't like it, than keep it to your self. I don't recall anyone asking you what you thought of people anyways. The question was about vacation spots, not for you to judge people. Who put you in charge?

My least favorite destination: Vancouver. Totally overrated, reminded me of Shanghai. But love Canada:Montreal, Calgary, Kamloops, Toronto, Banff and Jasper.
And for Ohio, it has some very nice parts. Cedar Point and Lake Erie Islands are amazing and beautiful respectively, but I have to give Cleveland a plug. Its true what they say, that if you haven't seen Cleveland lately, you haven't seen Cleveland.
My husband recently had a meeting there and I tagged along. His company stayed at the Wyndham but we stayed at the Hyatt another night. (Theres also a Ritz, Sheraton,Hilton, Renaissance, Marriott, InterContinental, Holiday Inns and the like.)
We spent 1/2 day at the Rock Hall of Fame, where they had at a special U2 exhibit. Beautiful showplace in and out, enjoyed it very much! We walked to Hornblower,a restaurant built in a ship and had a delicious lunch outside on the rooftop. Then we toured the WWII submarine USS Cod. Beautiful day, skyline and lakefront. The Great Lakes Science Center and Browns Stadium add to a lovely lake front, (reminded me of Baltimore's Inner Harbor)
Wanted to see some of the museums but ran out of time.Tried to get Lion King tickets but was sold out. We got tickets to the Indians game and hubby loved the ball park, reminded us of Camden Yards.

Disneyland and Disney World (my parents lived in Orlando and my husband's parents live in Anaheim) so even though we live near San Francisco, we are in the neighborhood of each of them fairly often. Neither my husband nor I "get" those kinds of places - and fortunately our kids don't like them either (they're now teenagers but we dutifully took them to each place once when they were younger and they never wanted to go back - thank heaven they inherited our don't-like-places-like-that genes or we would have had to get Travlnut to take them for us).

Cairy - I've noticed a link between SF and NO - it seems that the people who like one generally like the other and visa versa. No scientific evidence here, just what I've noticed. Since the 2 cities are quite different, I think it would be interesting to learn what it is about them that attract or repell the same people.
