Where is the Red Tide?
Did the Red Tide affect areas of Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, Siesta Key and Lido Key? Is it a short term thing? Could I expect it would be gone by November?
|
Everyone wants to know when it will be gone but no one knows. For the latest local update here's an article from today's St. Petersburg Times:

Sorry Dorgal but the Red Tide seems to be hanging around for quite awhile.
I've also heard (from sister-in-law in Jupiter) that it's getting smelly with dead fish hitting their beaches too. Maybe someone else can confirm or deny it. I also hope it's out of the gulf area as I'm heading back down on October. |
As a resident of the area, I can tell you that there is no way the red tide will hang around until November. But for a shorter term, my guess is that it will be here, on and off, through August.

LOL, Waldo. I just had a very delayed light bulb go off over my head!

Red tide affects me 5 days a month.

Now that's hilarious!! More to the subject, we are choking here in St Pete Beach today.

Wayne, that is totally wishful thinking. However, I have the same wish.
Weren't you the guy who informed us (erroneously) about a month ago that it was gone? Like the rest of us, you have no idea when it will go away. I was at the beach today (Treasure Island). It's still around. Not as strong as some days, I'll give you that. |
Red tide is very unpleasant here today in the Manasota Key area. If it will be here in November, who knows!!
|
Perhaps you'd best ask this question around Oct 31st. Sorry!!! Dam thing is still out there!!
