"I would highly recommend Fodor's to look into this city."

I bet they did. And turned the other way!

I did a trip report for San Jose, tacked onto an older thread:

There's also this thread:

I think it's telling that in both of the threads bachlunch linked to, almost all the suggestions for things to do and see, except for the few she listed, are NOT in San Jose!

Ok - I have to admit to being a bit "traditional", as my experience to San Jose dates back to 1970. Since then - San Joe has grown by leaps and bounds, has significant hi-tech and other business, and should be due at least a business trip review, if not more, as there are also a lot of surrounding areas that one can enjoy.

That was the first thing I thought of too!

Hann, Franklinn, TKay. Robinsen. All for one and one for all.

Ah yes, surfergirl, the San Jose troll and all his aliases.

BTW to all you Fodor's should do something on San Jose, have you noticed it is covered in The Bay Area--The Inland Peninsula, not extensively, but it's there.

Lordy surfergirl (!). How on Earth did you remember his screen names? (I do now but only after you listed them)

Janis - burned in my memory.

But the OP is not that person, based on the blogs that DebitNM was kind enough to research and note here.

So, i would personally like to welcome Alice (Ecilaluvital) to the Fodors Community and hope that you find some interesting places to describe, both in San Jose and any other travels you might take.

I will confess that I generally go through San Jose rather than stop there, but I have some colleagues who live in the area and California's next State Bar annual meeting will be held in San Jose next September. Therefore, between now and then I would love some insight.

In fact, I flew in and out of San Jose at the end of October, but based myself in Mountain View for the recent (and quite brilliant) Bridge School Benefit Concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre.

Over the years I've gotten to know the Mountain View area, and it's main drag is pretty darned cool. Great vibe!

I'm sure there's a lot of other cool areas to explore. So let us know!
