What nice replies! Thank you, everyone. I am sure I will use the restaurant recommendations.

xbt2316, am I reading you correctly that I can take the 202 bus directly to a stop next to the 6th Floor Kennedy Museum? I won't have very much time at all in Dallas and if I have to choose just one thing to see, this would be it.

That's exactly the case... the West Transfer center is about 2 blocks from the museum, on the edge of the West End entertainment district. It's also across the street from the West End metro station, which has metro lines going to most of the things a visitor to Dallas would like to see.

The 202 bus is a convenient way to get there... I think the bus stop in Las Colinas is across the street from your hotel.

Actually, the Las Colinas urban center is photogenic and atmospheric in its own right. The canal itself is very walkable and quaint, and the apartment blocks just south of the hotel looks like a town in Italy.

Thanks very much for the advice. The 202 bus was easy and convenient and the Museum was incredible. Great way to maximize my short time in Dallas!

Wasinla, you're quite welcome. The 202 is already a good connector between Las Colinas and Central Dallas, and the two new metro stations that will go into Las Colinas next year will dramatically improve its connectability.

Many people in Dallas do not use public transportation, know very little about it, and yet still feel qualified to render judgment on it, as in <<<I live in the area and we are not known for great public transportation.>>> In reality, Dallas is a national leader for the development of public transportation in the USA.

Excuse me, but Las Colinas will not, unfortunately, have 2 new metro stations next year... definitely within the next 5 years, though.

I wish this forum had a way to edit a post after the fact...

I'm glad your trip went well, and that you enjoyed the JFK Museum.

XBT is much better with public transportation than I am. ;-)

Thank you, Christie. I can say that you're better at Tarrant County restaurants than I am.
