Where is Kal?

Did Kal get home? Thought his Hawaii holiday would be over by now. Or is he home and still recuperating? Hope he and Mrs. Kal are doing well. ((*))

Statia Jan 25th, 2005 04:03 PM

He's probably still sleeping off all those tropical drinks and sun. ;)

Hopefully Kal and Mrs. Kal will be checking in soon and giving us a trip report. I hope all is well with them, too. :)

Scarlett Jan 25th, 2005 04:08 PM

I hope it is not true that he had a total breakdown when they told him he had to get on the plane and go home.
He has been in bed since he got home, and will not speak or eat.
Of course, that could be just some insane rumour, you know how those start :D
Kal, come back~

kimamom Jan 25th, 2005 04:12 PM

Who's Kal? ***kim*** ((l))

Paul Jan 25th, 2005 04:18 PM

Msssss Scarlett dear,
I do declare that you are most accurate in your assessment of our dear pal, Kal. I heard he is just so plum tuckered out, that he has been in a state of near coma and sleeping in his own urine. Tough times for a dear sweet boy. At least that is what "I heard."
;-)

Budman Jan 25th, 2005 05:24 PM

Kal, I just saw a "shot across your bow" if you know what I mean. b( ((b))

cigalechanta Jan 25th, 2005 05:29 PM

I heard he decided to be a beach bum and the Mrs took to beach combing.

Beats the 30 inches of snow here.

razzledazzle Jan 25th, 2005 05:38 PM

Oh, Budman, I'm certain it was said
with love, the little #%!%, so sweet.
b-(
Poor Kal, he's had a double whammy
Returning home and the Steeler's loss
:((
His tatoo is probably sad as well.

LoveItaly Jan 25th, 2005 05:54 PM

Well if dear Kal arrived at Sacramento airport in the tule fog no doubt he is hiding in bed! Oooooor - maybe the plane has been sent to some other airport so it can land - somewhere where there is no tule fog?

BTW - it just started to rain real heavy about 10 minutes ago. Hurrah!

Think that is the end of the miserable tule fog.

What a way to end a trip in beautiful sunny Hawaii (or did he get rain there?)

Never mind Waldo, where's Kal?? ((*))

Budman Jan 25th, 2005 05:59 PM

R5, I still can't stop laughing!!! :D :-d ((6)) ((b))

razzledazzle Jan 25th, 2005 06:06 PM

OldSouthernBelle Jan 25th, 2005 06:09 PM

Maybe Kal is still on the Makalaeha hike, or dipping under the ledge in the Blue Room? Hummmm? OSB.

gyppielou Jan 25th, 2005 07:37 PM

kal who??? you mean that crazy guy on the coconut coast measuring rain drops? calling them dew drops? bad scene, bad scene.........

Scarlett Jan 25th, 2005 08:16 PM

Good grief!! What was that??

Who is Kal? LOL ! those in the know, know :D
Perhaps they came home and decided to continue the holiday there, they just aren't ready to enter the "real" world yet..

travelinwifey Jan 25th, 2005 09:16 PM

Yes, sometimes after returning from vacation I can actually go without Fodors for a while, but as you can see it doesn't last long:)

iceeu2 Jan 26th, 2005 05:22 AM

Muffin revealed her identity!!

Kal Jan 26th, 2005 06:53 AM

Thx for the concern, well most of you anyway.:-d

Too darn busy at work and "real life" right now.
Plus I'm still trying to digest that 10# burrito from La Playita Azul.

I had hoped all of the lobster Ravs I had at Coconuts would grease the skids for it. #-O

Got the Triple Whammy Sunday. 1st Johnny Carson, then the "Steelahs" and then the Kings get blown out by San Ant.
It was just me and my buddy Rod Strong that night....but Mrs Kal had to have a glass too.

We're also bummed that we will miss the GTG at Sonoma Mission Inn with Budman, R5s, Pammer and kimmamom in March. That should be fun.

Preparing a Kauai TR but can barely read my notes...so it must have been a good trip!
But why anyone would even want to go to that hell hole of an island, Kauai, is way beyond me.
:^o:^o:^o

Everyone should go to Maui. :))

In the meantime, I'm always available at my e-mail addy.
Mucho Mahalos!
336, kiki! :-X

PamSF Jan 26th, 2005 07:08 AM

Kal~I found the hidden message! YOU bad,bad boy:)

Kal Jan 26th, 2005 07:12 AM

;;)

I liked the blatant one mo' bettah'.

Make sure you guys show B'man a good, "Nor Cal-Orig Wino Gangstahs" time! ;)

uuhhhh Jan 26th, 2005 07:56 AM

"We're also bummed that we will miss the GTG at Sonoma Mission Inn with....kimmamom in March."

"Message: Who's Kal? ***kim***"

i wouldn't let it bother you too much, Kal.....

jetset1 Jan 26th, 2005 08:09 AM

***kim***~ Kal is the reigning King of Kauai, plus beer afficianado, homecoming King, quarterback of the Fodor's team, chief of the coconut brigade, Michelin(tire) food critic of all Hawaiian restaurants, and wears many more hats(I suspect he has that helmet with double straws for mass yeast and hops doses). Also, he clearly adores his wife, so now you have an overall idea. It's just my opinion tho... J.

iceeu2 Jan 26th, 2005 08:18 AM

Kal...only 108 more days until we check out that hell hole for ourselves.

So, is LaPlayita Azul still my fav or has it gone as the other places in that location have?

Btw, Budman, when do you arrive? We leave on the 28th..probably to the airport by about 7 ish pm...Will you be there by then?

Thanks for reporting in Kal.((r))((r))((r)).......108!!!!!111

Budman Jan 26th, 2005 08:54 AM

iceeu2, funny you should ask that question. In about 10 minutes I will be changing my reservations. We were going to spend 2 days in Oahu, 7 in Kauai, then last 2 in Oahu. I just had a brain spasm and decided it would be better to first 7 in Kauai then last 4 in Oahu. Maybe we could have drinks on the 27th? ((b))

FainaAgain Jan 26th, 2005 10:36 AM

"Kal is the reigning King of Kauai, plus beer afficianado, homecoming King" - I agree with JetSet, he IS a Royal Something :-p

razzledazzle Jan 26th, 2005 11:43 AM

Sorry iceeu2, I'm not Muffin,
actually, I am fairly sure Muffin is
a "he".
I just stole the ***SMOOCHES***
but only to offend a special someone..
**** b-( ****
Love to all, well almost all...
R5

buckeyemom Jan 26th, 2005 01:45 PM

Muffin, a he huh? I never would have guessed. I thought Muffin was some old broad with the beginnings of dementia. :-)

This place would be pretty boring without the likes of Kal around to keep it entertaining...

Scarlett Jan 26th, 2005 01:50 PM

LOL, there are plenty of broads on these boards with the beginnings of dementia :D

Kal, darlin, happy to hear from you. ((F)) Hugs to Mrs Kal~

buckeyemom Jan 26th, 2005 01:58 PM

Scarlett, I picture you just as your namesake Scarlett O'Hara sitting on the lawn at Twelve Oaks with a dozen handsome suitors swooning over you. In no way shape or form do you have dementia in this scene. :-)

Scarlett Jan 26th, 2005 02:12 PM

LOL, buckeyemom, come here and let me give you a hug!((F))

Thank you. I will remember that the next time I feel demented :D

jetset1 Jan 26th, 2005 02:53 PM

Faina.. that is funny. I have never been to a Fodor's gtg, though I have hopes for the Napa area in the future. I was surprised that Kim didn't seem to know who he was, despite the "homage" paid to him frequently. Btw, what DOES he look like? Kal, do not reply. I want to see if my mental picture is aaccurate. I have two tv characters in mind, and think he's somewhere in the middle.
Faina, if I could get away next month, I'd love to meet up with you in Vegas, but my order for a clone still hasn't been filled, much to my family's disappointment(the clone will cook gourmet meals and never drag them away to a boring vacation place). ha, J.

LoveItaly Jan 26th, 2005 02:59 PM

jetset1, if you go to the search box and type in Yountville GTG or maybe it is Fodors Yountville GTG will you find tons of photos from the Nov. 26, 2004 GTG and then you too can see what dear Kal looks like! Enjoy! Thanks to Marilyn it is a great site.

beachbum Jan 26th, 2005 03:04 PM

"Message: R5, I still can't stop laughing!!!"

I'm with Budman. Good stuff, R5.

FainaAgain Jan 26th, 2005 03:10 PM

Jetset, picture a big guy in shorts freezing his behind off wearing shorts at the end of November :)

I live in San Francisco, so if you're in the area post a get-together offer (make us an offer we can't refuse, quoting the Godfather).

johnthedorf Jan 26th, 2005 03:28 PM

I am so bummed. I won't be in Sonoma until May 29th. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

jetset1 Jan 26th, 2005 03:31 PM

Faina.. I'm nervous here. Just what does the gtg host have to do, besides organize the attendees.. could I just show up with a purse full of cash and buy some drinks, or what?
I will go to the website and peruse the pictures. If no one appears too deranged, I'll consider being brave enough to attend. I may wear a disguise. I was thinking noisy leather pants and a black short wig and huge sunglasses, so as not to attract the wrong type! hahahahahahahahah, J.

FainaAgain Jan 26th, 2005 03:43 PM

I have no idea how a gtg gets organized (counting my blessings :)

Oh, no, please, no leather pants, or I'll have to turn into a Muffin Eater! Is this why you're going to Napa - to get local olive oil?

Search for all San Francisco get-togethers both here and on Europe - don't remember on which one Marylin posted both URLs, I've been to 2 of them. It's fun!

MelissaHI Jan 26th, 2005 07:58 PM

....and here I thought perhaps something happened when Mrs. Kal tried to light his tiki torch! ;)

Glad you enjoyed Kauai.....next time come over to Oahu for a loco moco!!

gyppielou Jan 26th, 2005 08:08 PM

Oooohhhh.............thaaaat Kal!!!!!!!
The scientist that can't figure out what possible use we could get out of that godforesaken rainy rock. Is it true, has Josselin really closed his flagship? Say it aint so. A Pacific Cafe has become our heartbreak return as we visited all of his Maui/Kauai, remember when he had the Beach House.....remember when they were all remarkable. Thought I'd try to meet Faineagain at 808 in Vegas,,,,,,but it the original is lost??? Bad day for an amazing chef that couldn't manage...Welcome home Mr and Mrs!! I am sure you are no more the wiser in why people waste their time and money on that island!!! Hanalei Beach House in August......why, why would I waste my money and time?!!!

iceeu2 Jan 27th, 2005 05:20 AM

Budman, did you get your reservations changed? We are up for drinks ...on Kal, of course, since Kauai and this thread belong to him! ((r))((r))((r))

Budman Jan 27th, 2005 05:42 AM

Yes, drinks sound great!! We're getting in at 5:30 on the 26th.

Maybe if we drop Kal's name at the appropriate gin mill, we'll get an extra jigger of rum in one of those "foo-foo" drinks. ((a)) We'd love to hear about all the neat things you did. You will be able to recognize me -- I'll be wearing the flowered shirt. ((a))

Waiting for his trip report. ((b))
