Did Kal get home? Thought his Hawaii holiday would be over by now. Or is he home and still recuperating? Hope he and Mrs. Kal are doing well. ((*))

He's probably still sleeping off all those tropical drinks and sun. ;)

Hopefully Kal and Mrs. Kal will be checking in soon and giving us a trip report. I hope all is well with them, too. :)

I hope it is not true that he had a total breakdown when they told him he had to get on the plane and go home.
He has been in bed since he got home, and will not speak or eat.
Of course, that could be just some insane rumour, you know how those start :D

I do declare that you are most accurate in your assessment of our dear pal, Kal. I heard he is just so plum tuckered out, that he has been in a state of near coma and sleeping in his own urine. Tough times for a dear sweet boy. At least that is what "I heard."

Well if dear Kal arrived at Sacramento airport in the tule fog no doubt he is hiding in bed! Oooooor - maybe the plane has been sent to some other airport so it can land - somewhere where there is no tule fog?

BTW - it just started to rain real heavy about 10 minutes ago. Hurrah!

Got the Triple Whammy Sunday. 1st Johnny Carson, then the "Steelahs" and then the Kings get blown out by San Ant.
It was just me and my buddy Rod Strong that night....but Mrs Kal had to have a glass too.

We're also bummed that we will miss the GTG at Sonoma Mission Inn with Budman, R5s, Pammer and kimmamom in March. That should be fun.

Preparing a Kauai TR but can barely read my notes...so it must have been a good trip!
But why anyone would even want to go to that hell hole of an island, Kauai, is way beyond me.

***kim***~ Kal is the reigning King of Kauai, plus beer afficianado, homecoming King, quarterback of the Fodor's team, chief of the coconut brigade, Michelin(tire) food critic of all Hawaiian restaurants, and wears many more hats(I suspect he has that helmet with double straws for mass yeast and hops doses). Also, he clearly adores his wife, so now you have an overall idea. It's just my opinion tho... J.

Kal...only 108 more days until we check out that hell hole for ourselves.

iceeu2, funny you should ask that question. In about 10 minutes I will be changing my reservations. We were going to spend 2 days in Oahu, 7 in Kauai, then last 2 in Oahu. I just had a brain spasm and decided it would be better to first 7 in Kauai then last 4 in Oahu. Maybe we could have drinks on the 27th? ((b))

Faina.. that is funny. I have never been to a Fodor's gtg, though I have hopes for the Napa area in the future. I was surprised that Kim didn't seem to know who he was, despite the "homage" paid to him frequently. Btw, what DOES he look like? Kal, do not reply. I want to see if my mental picture is aaccurate. I have two tv characters in mind, and think he's somewhere in the middle.
Faina, if I could get away next month, I'd love to meet up with you in Vegas, but my order for a clone still hasn't been filled, much to my family's disappointment(the clone will cook gourmet meals and never drag them away to a boring vacation place). ha, J.

A Pacific Cafe has become our heartbreak return as we visited all of his Maui/Kauai, remember when he had the Beach House.....remember when they were all remarkable. Thought I'd try to meet Faineagain at 808 in Vegas,,,,,,but it the original is lost??? Bad day for an amazing chef that couldn't manage...Welcome home Mr and Mrs!!
