Where is heaven?
If you had only a week to live and could go anywhere in the world with unlimited funds, where would you go to spend out the last days of your life here on earth, who would you take, and what would you do?
|
As much as I love to travel, the answer to your question is:
I'd stay at home, surrounded by my friends and family. |
I'd go skydiving, I'd go rocky mountain climbing . . .
Just kidding. I'm w/you Patrick, I'd stay home so I could be around everyone and everything that is dear to me. |
If I KNEW I only had 1 week to live, I would be at home, also with family and friends. I would give my things to the people that I want and and taking care of them by trying to make sure their lives are made better because of mine. I would set up trust funds for my neice and nephew, and make sure my husband was taken care of...I would hire a housekeeper for him and set him up on a few dates (after I'm gone) Hey I'll be dead and he needs someone to love him and take care of him.
If I didn't know I was going to die, I would like it on the way home from a vacation:) not before. It doesn't matter where we go we always have a blast. |
<<Where is heaven?>>
Some of us believe that heaven is hopefully where you go after you die, not before. |
Come on guys, BigDan has given you unlimited funds to travel.
I would go to Kauai and take any and everyone who wanted to go with me. They would not know that I only had a week, but would think I was being very generous with my lottery winnings! |
I'd fly family & friends out to a ranch near the Grand Tetons and spend the week riding horses, playing games, cooking out, exploring, painting, photgraphing, etc.
|
Heaven is somewhere in the lower forty eitht and probably in the State of Mind.
|
Hey, I'd do my best to spend the unlimited funds, I'd just do it in my hometown. Now if you give me the money without the impending death, I'll give you a different answer!! :-)
|
Perhaps a better question would be "If you could take only one more vacation for the rest of your life, to anywhere in the world with unlimited funds, where would it be and who would you take?"
|
One week, with family and Pup in Italy in the early summer.
or One week with family and Pup in outer space where time has no meaning so I would last forever as would my family and Pup. |
I think a better question would be "If you had all the time in the world, why would you spend it posting silly questions about heaven?"
|
I'd spend the time and money visiting family, most of whom live away from me. I'd spend money making sure their futures will be comfortable.
I'd visit Pakistan (family there, too) and make sure they had all their monetary needs taken care of, and then I'd get the ball rolling on an organization that addresses the needs of women and children there. That should keep me more than busy until final checkout time! |
Unlimited funds? So far I'd have to say charter a big plane for hubby, friends and animals, hire the best chef I could get and a wonderful chamber orchestra, fly to some wonderful, luxurious place in the Swiss Alps, and have a party to beat all parties for the week. What a way to go.

Famous question: "Is this heaven?"
Answer: "It's Iowa." (Please note: The incorrect version, "No, it's Iowa," is legion.) :) |
I would rent a huge house on Kailua or Lanikai Beach on Oahu and fly everyone I love over there and have one "hell" of a terrific time doing everything we could in that week.
|
yea, Travdis is back.
|
thank you travdis or bunch....I'm with the others who are for the PARTY with loved ones...What a way to go!
|
In the last week of my life the absolute LAST thing I'd want to do is pack a suitcase, haul my *ss to the airport, get on a plane, and go traveling.
Now give me a year to live and I would have a very different answer. |
I'd take all my friends with me to my favorite places in Provence. We'd party, dance the whole time.
|
Heaven must be in Ecum Secum,
because I don't know why living creatures would live in a place with such a name. |
cigale,
the Yankee and I were daydream planning a trip that involves Provence, the wine region and Nice :) You will be one of my biggest sources of info when that time comes! |
I'd take my Grandson to see his favorite things (today)--trains
|
Heaven on earth to this OSB is a day 'off' lying on a raft in the backyard pool, watching the humming birds, etc. , enjoying my flowers, or fishing on the dock in the pond. No 'pressing' things to do.
I love June! 8-) Belle. |
Paris first class or I would rent my own island in a tropical climate...depending on the time of year. Family, well I guess I'll see them later, right ??
|
I'd go home to North Syracuse, New York and eat everyday at the Dinosaur Barbque or have pizza from Twin Trees..(best pizza in the world) I wouldn't have to care how much I ate...
|
New Zealand, with my family and friends.
|
North Shore Kauai where my "ohana" family is. no doubt about it.
|
I should probably say stay at home with my family, but you asked so here goes. I would take my husband, Mom and her husband to Paris as well as my husband's parents. I would also take my dog because he is such an important member of our family and he would love Paris! He could go into restaurants, walk on the streets, we could go to dog boutiques. I would eat and drink like a qeen and soak up everything that Paris has to offer from churches to cafes, to chocolatiers, to museums, to gardens!
|
branson's island. all my buds by private planes. great chefs. boats to play on. diff show every night - bonnie raitt, clapton, buffett, andrea bocelli, fireworks twice and a last night of silence

<<Famous question: "Is this heaven?" Answer: "It's Iowa.">>
I've lived in five states, traveled Europe, the U.S. and places in Latin America the Cancuners have never heard of, and I still agree with you, Cyonara. It's Iowa. Really. That's where I'd go. But not in the winter! |
Hi folks,
I should have phrased the question a little differently (i.e. what is your ultimate vacation). I'm asking just in case that multi-million dollar inheritance from distant generous relatives one day happens (yeah, it'll happen), or I slip and fall outside of a McDonald's. Anyways, my ultimate vacation or conception of heaven on earth is a stay at the Hyatt Regency in Kuaui, where my wife and I stayed for our honeymoon (I'm still paying it off two years later, but worth it). Dinner at their floating restaurant - it is a wooden restaurant with windowless windows that overlook a pond below with I think Koi. It was exactly 24 degrees everyday (celsius). I remember tiki torches, the roar of the Pacific, the moon glowing like it don't here in Canada. Eating Hawaiin fish like Mahi-Mahi or Ahi-Ahi or a New Zealand rack of lamb with wine. Then a rich chocolate mouse for dessert with a nice sweet dessert wine. I remember that they had a live acoustic local musician playing. It was pretty awesome. My job sucks. Yeah. |
Well BigDan you have got me thinking this morning. If (rephrased by you) we had a great trip to take, I like your idea of Kaui(haven't been ,but going next April). I would take my husband, kids, brothers and their families, parents and inlaws for a trip of a lifetime with all of the kids. It would be someplace tropical with a million things to explore or do nothing at all except have fun!
