What month? Remember that June and July are winter months in the Southern Hemisphere. Expect to see many miles of burned Eucalyptus forest after the fires that are still going on in Australia. It is feared that perhaps half of the koalas and kangaroos in Australia have perished from the massive fires.
As for NZ, be prepared for earthquakes and stay away from the island with the recently active volcano.
Depending on which direction you are coming from, you could still have a stopover on one of the Hawaiian Islands to relieve some of your jet lag.
