A seven year old post about the weather? Interesting.
To the OP you can hit a freak heatwave anywhere. I live in Seattle and it only hits 90's for a couple days every couple years! |
I am the OP. Noted the recent bump in this post. Since 2005 we have actually vacationed in Northern California and the Oregon coast. We've also been to New Hampshire and Vermont and experienced lovely, cool(er) weather there as well. Loved all our choices for trips! Thanks, everyone...

Thanks for the update!

If you can, please post some trip reports. It sounds like you had some nice trips!

Did your Northern Cal travels include Lake Tahoe - which is what I would have recommnded. Incredibly beautiful and usually not too hot. http://www.thestormking.com/Sierra_S...e_weather.html

I know this is an old post but doesn't everyone learn from reading old posts?
Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. We've been to Montana many summers and it gets very hot there--even up in the mountains of Glacier. Of course it depends on what time of summer. If you go in June it's cooler but a lot of roads are still closed too. |
I lived for 31 hot, horrible years in Palm Springs, Ca. - used to go to Tucson, AZ as a kid to cool off (if you can believe that) every summer, because of the monsoons. I DESPISE THE HEAT! We moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, but after 15 years that seemed too cold, so now live in Ashland, Oregon. All summer, I have pretty much locked myself in the house - it's too hot!!! We visited our son in San Diego this summer and the weather was the BEST (always was) but the cost of living and the huge population have kept us from relocating there. We love the northwest but want San Diego's weather - Help - If anyone knows of somewhere - let me know! Rain is ok, but no snow!!!

Nantucket MA has its own weather pattern.

Santa Cruz. Not quite like San Diego but less rainy than the northwest and often sunny with a cool ocean breeze. |
Just about anywhere on the Central Coast (Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara) . . . But there may be some sticker shock . . .
