For fun click on captbuzz's name..lots of interesting posts considering this one.

JJ5 Aug 24th, 2006 11:23 AM

Oh LoveItaly, that is so funny!

captbuzz is definitely not a person who will be content with a $20,000 a year lifestyle anywhere.

And he/she asks a question in quite a ADHD manner. Tall order indeed!

SpeedBuggy Aug 24th, 2006 11:27 AM

STW kinda implied it might be one of the teens. Sure hope not.

LoveItaly Aug 24th, 2006 11:41 AM

Hi JJ5, quite amusing, yes? Guess the lifestyle is going to change. But "running away" hmmm, wonder if the family knows lol. Well actually if that is the case that is not amusing.

If you do some research on Belize, you'll find it's becoming quite a popular retirement spot for Americans because the dollar goes a long way there and English is widely spoken. You can probably find a community of yanks to live near.

I don't think you should jump to conclusions about to OP. He mention a wife and 2 teens in 2005. You can never tell what happens in ones lives in a year. A divorce, death anything could have happen that makes him need to "run away"
With that said how about Mexico?

redfern Aug 24th, 2006 12:07 PM

Hey I lived on like $15,000 a year when I was single and I made it okay. But don't count on eating out or buying things. And if you are planning on "running away" its going to take a lot of "running back" to catch up on bills if you are leaving those as well. FYI: May need to shop second hand and shop at walmart...

luvs2pak,

You are too kind. Even if there had been a divorce, he cannot "run away" from his children and evade his obligation to support them. And notice that he has not returned to correct everyone's impression that this is what he is planning to do.

luvs2pack Aug 24th, 2006 12:45 PM

I did notice he didn't come back on. I thought maybe a divorce where maybe the children weren't his. Your probably right. I just thought of a time in my life I wanted to run away and it was a very sad tragic time. Let's hope whatever he needs to run from he finds comfort.
I would like to hear all the places to go live for the money though.

SpeedBuggy Aug 24th, 2006 12:49 PM

He did post again, above, but it sounds like he's moved on to the South American board.

The Philippines. I have been there and know some people who are spending a couple of years there while setting up a business. Great food, great people, and great prices. My friends are in a luxury condo with maid service for $900US/mo. They have a driver at their disposal for next to nothing. The restaurants (not the touristy ones) but the local neighborhood ones have just excellent food for incredible prices.

LoveItaly Aug 24th, 2006 01:37 PM

I agree, perhaps there is a very good reason for wanting to run away without doing harm to anyone else. I stand corrected and apologize regarding my comments. Never assume!!

captbuzz Aug 24th, 2006 02:31 PM

Back again.
Sorry guys ,no kids,no divorce.
The 2 teens mentioned the London post
