Where in Manhattan to get NYC Souvenirs for Italian relatives?
I work in Manhattan but I have no idea where to look. I'll definitely check out the transit museum in Grand Central. Any other ideas for places that sell cute NY themed items without breaking the bank?

Anywhere where you will find tourists. Times Square, 34th St., South Street Seaport, 5th Ave (especially by Empire State Building), and Canal St. for really cheap stuff.
|
There is also a store with some cute things on the corner of 5th Avenue and 25th, if I remember correctly.
|
All around where that TKTS booth is in times square is a bunch of souvenier stores.
|
There are also two big stores on 5th Aveune and I think 49-48th. Near St. Patricks. One is called Phantom Gifts on 5th and there is another with lots of shirts, hats, knick knacks right across the street

The first floor of Macy's has a very large NYC souvenir merchandise area.
|
Ditto Macy's - they have a bunch of stuff - and the quality is reasonable - not too trashy.

Try the New York City Store - it is run by the City and sells all sorts of NY themed merchandise. You can shop at their website: www.nycitystore.com or go to the actual store in the Municipal Building (Centre St). I think you can also get at least some of their merchandise at the Visitor Info Center at 7th Ave & 52nd St.

How about Little Italy?

Thanks for all the fabulous suggestions! I think I may go to the New York City Store, it's close to my work and they have great stuff on their website.

You can get I love NY shirts on 8th Avenue near about 52 street for $2.00.
There are lots of souvenier/junk stores in Times Square. Shop around as prices can vary a lot. Also, check out the street fairs. |
