Where do you find resale Timeshares?

I've been following the post re: the "abuse" some people experience when going to a "comped" weekend at a resort selling timeshares. Some have suggested that resale timeshares can be a good deal. Where do you find these???? Any place other than the Tug2 website? More specifically, where can you find resales for some of the nicer, newer timeshares (i.e., Marriott in Hawaii)

If you are looking for a resale timeshare to buy I suggest you look at the following websites:

www.oneborneveryminute.com
www .suckersincorporated.com
www.showusthemoney.com
www.wannabuythebrooklynbridge2.com
www.thro wingmoneyaway.com
www.gotyoubytheballs.com
Check the www.tug2.net website very carefully, as some of the advisors are resale companies, also check their classified ads. It is an excellent source to look for all sorts of information on t/s, before buying. Another good website with good information and resale links is
http://timeshare-guru.com/
Good hunting. The above email is good, by taking out the xx's.

Try "Resort Condo Resales" at 866-332-2330. No, I do not work for the company.

Happy Trails,
Paul

To Just,
Better be very careful. There are lots of crooks out there, even you may be talking about a couple of thousand dollars. It's your hard earned money.

Anyway, I agree with xxx, the suggested websites are the same ones I would recommend! Good hunting!

We bought 1/2 a timeshare in Hawaii (we own with another couple, every other year) on ebay.com and was very pleased with the transaction in all respects. It would be helpful if you mentioned where you're considering buying....Hawaii, California, Mexico etc. Give us a clue and we may be more helpful.

Go to the ebay sites for timeshare resales. For sure only look for RCI Gold Crown, Red week, Deeded Week. First familiarize yourself with what RCI does, how they rate places, etc. www.rci.com - Then ask people you can trust, who have been to those places as exchanges. The value of your timeshare depends on management and the experience people have when they get there. The 2 places I am familiar with are, Radisson Palm Beach Resorts in West Palm Beach (we own 2 weeks) and Orange Lake Country club in Orlando (almost as good as staying at a Disney hotel if you have kids). If you can buy at either of those 2 for $2000 or less, you have gotten a great deal. Friends of ours got 4 weeks at a place in the South Pacific for practically nothing (still haven't actually gone there after 15 years), pay 1000 a year in maint. and go just about anywhere they want 1 month out of the year and take my in-laws with them.

Start at www.timeshare-guru.com as suggested by a previous poster. Click on Resales and a whole listing of resale companies will come up. Some of them are very reputable and others are only so-so at best. I would highly recommend doing a lot of research on the Timshare Users Group website before you even approach a resale company. There are a lot of things to learn before you even think about buying. I would invest the $15.00 it costs to become a member. It has already saved me thousands. Oh yes, the post about Gold Crown resorts does not necessarily make them a good deal. I have found a few RID resorts to be better and even some that haven't even received awards. Research will tell you why, and if you can't find out why, you can e-mail me privately. I own a lot of timeshares and all of them have been very good to me, because I spent the time to research most of them before I bought.

Trust me, most of them don't run away quickly unless they are extremely good buys. Good luck in your quest.

Just curious about the quality of many of these Gold Crown Properties. I have the opportunity to use someone's timeshare on a trip to Hawaii and am wondering if I would end up hating it, even if it is a good deal. I looked in the RCI book, which doesn't give very much info or pictures about the properties. The website I went to for one of the properties didn't even have pictures of their rooms. I am envisioning a room decorated in 1980's tropical decor, dingy and old...Everyone keeps raving about how great timeshares are but how great are the rooms???

Funny how the guy always shows up on these posts calling anyone who invests in time shares a "sucker"

A friend and I bought a timeshare from a charity a few years ago for $500...people can donate their timeshares to charity and receive a "fair market value" deduction for it on their taxes...the tax savings generally makes up for a third of their initial outlay

anyways...every other year I get one week in a two bedroom condo in Aruba..or I can trade in for virtually any other resort in the world as all weeks are "red" in Aruba...

$550 for a week in a two bedroom condo and I'm the sucker?

Look for good deals, they exist..you just have to search hard for them

make sure the week you buy is "red"

Mike Hocksbigg Dec 10th, 2002 03:50 AM

forgot to mention that the annual maintenance fee is $550....we alternate years
For Curious: The quality of the Gold Crown (GC) resorts is excellent. They reach GC status by inspection and from the reports that other timeshare users send back to RCI or II (the 2 largest exchange Co). We have stayed in many GC condos and have had very nice furniture, Washers/dryers (in most all), full kitchen with enough to cook and serve how ever many are allowed in the room.
Usually 2 TV's, most have grills outside, most have porches or lanai's or decks. There are usually activity rooms and pools..some in, some out, some both. All linens are supplied. Some have mid-week cleaning, a few daily cleaning. Many have tours available and things to do for the kids.
Our experiences at timeshares have been very pleasant. We have met some great people and stayed places we otherwise could not have afforded to go. We usually stay near some place we want to explore, or we may just want to sit on the beach. We have never been sorry that we have bought 3 timeshares giving us at least 5 weeks vacation time in condos and not crowded in a small hotel room.
