you're funny, rb.

I grew up near Allentown - how far it's deteriorated!

Have fun in Wilkes-Barre!

I'm so jealous!! The "real" vacation was a trip to Portland and the Oregon Coast, via the "Empire Builder", then on to Mendocino,CA. and the Sonoma Valley. Needed a few more weeks.

Long weekends to Providence, Boston, New York City,Newport R.I. and trips to family in New Jersey and Ct.
2006-hopefully visiting friends in Savannah this winter. we know a golfing trip to San Diego will be coming along in March, combined with a visit to relatives in the Santa Barbara area.
We're still perusing a Tuscany catalogue of villas for rent- maybe!!

So you noticed! Actually, I do love the little backroads of PA and old US highways . I love the old "hotels" that were once stagecoach stops that still serve great cooking; more like a diner yet become a great restaurant on Fri & Sat night. Winding thru mountain roads of the Appalachian mountains and all the parks. I've not been to Allentown, where they're tearing the old factories down, but I did like areas like Kutztown, Trexlertown & Coopersburg. I did leave a creditcard at a payphone in Foglesville that somehow was found in Allentown. Next stop: Kane.

I guess I'm outta my league, I saved and spent a year planning for our trip to Maui and Oahu. Feel really fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to have gone, if fact!

Other 2005 trips were just to the beach for a few days a couple times and home to see the parents a few times (in state).

Oh yes, and to Baton Rouge to see a friends' son's wedding.

How in the world do you guys get off work for all that traveling?

Belle

Yikes! I feel positively like a pauper.

xxx30- good one! I might drive up to Maine this weekend so now I can add that to my list!!

Lets see:
Kauai, Oahu, and the Big Island. Having done this trip, I have more than exceeded any previous travel years.

NYC 3 or 4 times (but I ALWAYS do that)

Philly and Williamsburg if I count chaperoning 200 8th graders (obviously not up for BEST of the year--although I do manage to have a good time with the kiddos)

Yeah I guess Hawaii was the best

2006-We're in negotiations for California...or England

"How in the world do you guys get off work for all that traveling?"

Hey Belle, I can't say I get to travel as much as some of the people who have posted but I'm a teacher so I have all summer off work as well as the big holidays. DH makes vastly more money than I do so....

Fun thread! I really shouldn't even bother posting, our travels this year were far from impressive, but I guess for having 2 small kids (age 3 and 22 mos) we did okay.

2005:
Fort Collins, CO
Philadelphia, PA
Bucks County, PA
Cambridge, England (and environs)
New York City, NY (girls only weekend!)

2006:
Fort Collins, CO
Hawaii, Kauai (in 19 days and counting)
Back to Cambridge, England for summer
Cape May, NJ

Wow, when I put it down looks like more than I thought. Here is to Happy 2006 Travel for all Fodorites!
