Where can we go mid March for sunshine (WITHOUT college/highschool spring breakers)?
My husband and I want to get away somewhere warm, sunny to lay on the beach and do the "beach" thing...jetski, snorkel, etc.<BR><BR>Mainly our focus is R&R, also we enjoy walking the beach @ sunset and sipping Pina Coladas.<BR><BR>Any suggestions on a place with long stretch of beach, where we can avoid the spring breakers but still be in warm weather?<BR><BR>Thank you.

How about San Juan, or Barbados,or the Caymen Islands?<BR>

I did look into the Cayman and San Juan, but the airfare from Detroit is quite high...roughly 800-1000.<BR><BR>I was looking for a more affordable vacation, but I will see if I can find deals to one of those places.<BR><BR>Thank you.

Did you check your Sunday's travel section to see what kind of package deals were available?

If it's affordable then the College crowd and/or families with children will be there. I can't think of any affordable destination that you could avoid them.

Check on the FL Keys other than Key West. Search the net. There are lots of websites.

Hmmm good point, if its cheap, the kids will flock to it. I guess you get what you pay for.<BR><BR>What about California. Is Palm Springs warm typically? Check Scottsdale and Sedona areas. Go to weather.com for forecasts and comparisons. <BR><BR>As for the college kids, they flock to Panama City, Cancun, Key West, Daytona. I think you are pretty safe in the Caymans, Belize, Aruba, Barbados. Just don't book a resort that has kids programs because then you will get all the little kids and their parents.

How about one of those resorts that caters to couples only? Like Sandals, etc. Either that or some expensive vacation (that college students can't afford) are the only way you'll truly be able to avoid spring breakers if you want a beach vacation.

You might also check the west coast of Florida - Sannibel, Captiva, Marco Island - I don't think they're big college break draws - they're quieter....

Palm Springs and Phoenix/Scottsdale would be very nice at that time, but they aren't on the beach. ;)<BR>Many resorts have great pool areas though, with waterslides, and bars etc.<BR>Happy planning & Have a great vacation!

Try Hawaii-it's too expensive for most spring breakers.There will probably be lots of families at Waikiki so I would avoid it there. The outer islands shouldn't be too bad-Maui (don't stay at Kanaapali-too busy), The Big Island is great all year long and Kauai.All the beautiful beaches and watersports you could dream of!!

Try Captiva Island, Fl. FLY into Ft. Myers. Very tropical feel. Very few kids.

Palm Springs California is beautiful. The weather should be nice too.<BR><BR>Not on the ocean, but beautiful scenery with lovely swimming pools.

My sister went to Port St Jo, Florida last year during spring break and practically had the place to herself. This area has been named as one of the best beaches in the U.S. but it isn't a party scene so the kids don't go there.

palm springs is not the beach but would be sunny and they have discouraged spring breakers over the years so you don't get too many kids.<BR>belize would be another choice.

I can't believe how many people responded to this post with inland suggestions when the poster clearly wants a beach vacation. She couldn't have stressed anymore that she's looking for the "beach thing" and people suggest Sedona. I don't get it.
