Trip reports are key to this forum.
I greatly appreciate each and every one.
For many people, jobs, family and reality make it difficult to do much more than reply briefly or quickly post a reply.

So for those who take the time and make the effort to do *official* trip reports, many many thanks.

No report is too short, too brief, or too late.
Please keep them coming!

i love trip reports & pictures when they are available. "and no trip report is too long either" you shall be seeing a T.R. in 2009 :)

Trip reports can be as unattractive as looking at a strangers vacation photos. Maybe that is why people avoid them. That is why I do.

Myer Oct 26th, 2007 03:21 PM

I they are not written, they won't be read.

If they are written, the readers have a choice.

I'll be doing a little one from our recent Ireland trip (we led a group trip) in September but it will be on the Europe board. This was my 12th trip to Ireland and we contracted with CIE Tours, planned a custom tour that I designed and invited everyone we knew who might want to go to Ireland...we ended up with 28 people...friends, family, friends of friends, coworkers of friends, neighbors, etc.
I am not a detailed reporter though but it might help someone...everyone here has been very generous with me that I will do the best I can....but again, it has to be on the Europe board.

I'll watch for that, shadow. I'm sure traveling with a group that large was interesting. And, since you all had a connection of one kind or another, probably a lot of fun!

Shadow Oct 26th, 2007 10:01 PM

Hi CAPH52,

Yes, it was a blast!! Out of the 28 there were 5 that I had not met until we were at LAX!! But everyone knew someone so there were connections and that did make it nice. I had a get together about 7 weeks before the trip but the 5 people that I had not met live far away from us and one is out of state. But, that sure broke the ice for the ones that were there. There were 5 others that I met either at the party or a few of those at other times before the trip.
We had a great time and though I'm not normally a "tour person" per se, I will say that it was a blast and our driver/guide made it so much fun and took care of all the details so my dh and I could sit back and just enjoy Ireland!

Ah, I read this today after posting a belated (11 months late) trip report. Hopefully, it is never too late as someone mentioned. Anyway, my report is listed in the New York section. Due to the late posting of the report, I opted to add it to the end of my first post. I wasn't sure how to link it to a new post. It is listed under the Christmas in new york- help with itinerary needed...

Myer
You are absolutely right! I have been one of those guilty of getting ideas but not giving feedback after a trip. But, alas I will try to redeem myself.

My wife and I went to Maine in late September. I will go back and reply/respond relative to our trip in that string of postings.

Thanks for lighting a fire under me!

Myer Nov 6th, 2007 12:30 PM

kwilly,

You might do better starting a new thread with "Trip Report" in the title.

My trip report is at www.tabhauser.com and click Kauai.
This is my family trip where some tips came from this boards. My web site is personal & not commercial.
(no ads or sign ons, I just do it for me to share with family and forums.)
Thanks

I love reading trip reports, and got so much out of them before my own vacations. It does seem like there are fewer of them here these days.

On our trip to Italy, I did keep a travel log that I used to write my report and consequently my report might have been too long for some....oh well! They can always stop reading.

ok. ill give you guys my trip report. ill try to be as brief as possible. first i want to extend thanks to those that helped me to plan a fantastic trip to las vegas.

i just returned from a 3 day/2 night stay.

i landed around 5pm on day one & checked into hotel room. i began my trek along strip, when i encounter the new planet hollywood casino/hotel. (on my last trip-it was the alladin)

unbeknownest to me, its the grand opening. i soon find myself admist the legions of others who are waiting for celebs to arrive via limo.

that night i saw: gene simmons from kiss, nelly, darrell mcdaniels from run-dmc, suge knight, andre agassi, roger clemens, bruce willis, michael anthony hall, pamela anderson, ms. universe, kevin spacey, danny glover, danny devito, charlie sheen, david hasselhoff, luke perry, joey fatone, chris angel, sugar ray leonard, rhea perlman, sylvester stallone, patrick swayze.

toured the lion habitat at mgm grand

dinner at excalibur's buffet.

day two starts with "the bodies" exhibit at tropicana, and was worth every cent i paid and then some.

lunch at hard rock

that evening i took duece to fremont street, saw the display, played some slots at golden nugget, had a few drinks at mermaids. toured the miracle mile shops, wynn shops, m&m world, bought some souvenirs at hawaiian marketplace, and sang some karaoke at imperial palace.

dinner at excalibur's sherwood forest cafe. gambled some more at excalibur, & mandalay bay.

day three: ate small breakfast and prepared for my ride to airport.

i did some other brief touring of other places, but nothing noteworthy, just small things here and there.

overall, not a bad trip for just being in vegas under 48 hours.

bigtyke Nov 20th, 2007 06:23 AM

I only want trip reports that are interesting, unique, with lots of detail.

However, i do wish that everyone who asks a question will then post what answer to the question that they used (or didn't use). Don't start another thread, but just post it as another reply to the original question.

momn3 Dec 11th, 2007 02:50 PM

o.k. this sounds stupid but where to you post a trip report? not here because it would be too short? I'd do it if I knew where to post it and how. Obviously, some of us don't get it. Ha! That's me. Sorry.

Maggi Dec 11th, 2007 05:13 PM

Momn3, to post a trip report: log in to Fodors, find the proper forum (i.e. Europe, US, Caribbean, etc) and in that forum click on "post a new message". That will take you to a new screen where you will pick a topic and choose a title for your trip report. It's advisable to be specific in your title, such as naming where you visited. I usually type my trip reports in a Word document and then cut and paste it into the text box on Fodors. Or you can type directly into the text box. Keep in mind that you can only type about 3000 characters in the text box. If your trip report is longer than that, type the rest in subsequent replies to your own post.

Maybe I have given you more information than you were looking for. If so, forgive me!

Myer Dec 12th, 2007 02:31 AM

Maggi,

I used to write my reports in Word and did a Cut & Paste into the message box. That usually results in some characters being displayed incorrectly.

What I now do is Cut & Paste from Word into Notepad and then Cut & Paste into the Fodors message box.

That eliminates the special characters that are displayed incorrectly.

Maggi Dec 12th, 2007 05:30 AM

Myer is that thing still happening with Word? Do the incorrect characters show up in the "edit post" box or only when you post your reply? I don't think it's happened to me lately. I've never used Notepad.

Myer Dec 12th, 2007 07:40 AM

Maggi,
I don't remember exactly. I just do the double cut & paste out of habit. I don't keep the Notepad version. Just in between.

Somebody mentioned they were having this problem in a post a month or so back.
