Where and how to find the best place to live?

My parents are both in their 70s decided to move from cold North of New Hampshire somewhere South. They do not like Florida. They love outdoor activities. They do not mind snow but not 5 months a year. They love mountains. They are thinking about West Virginia, North and South Carolinas or Georgia.

My question to you is where are the best places to move with outstanding medical facilities?
My father has a cancer and they both are older so they need to be within easy driving distance from hospital or the best available clinics.

I would like to help them with researching the best available place to move but where to start and how to go about it?

Anyone here knows about an ideal location for older but very active couple?

Try www.findyourspot.com. This site takes input on your living preferences and provides a list of cities that would match up well with those preferences.

I second findyourspot.com They/you can pick what things are important - like medical facilities nearby, weather, etc.

Have they considered WA state or OR?

Check out the Raleigh Durham area in North Carolina. You have the beach and mountains plus the prestigious Duke University Medical Center is there.

Best combination of good quality of life and top medical facilities in the area you specified:
Raleigh-Durham NC (Duke, UNC medical centers)
Asheville NC (Mission St. Joseph's)
Winston-Salem NC (NC Baptist- Wake Forest)
Charlotte NC (Carolinas Med Ctr)
Charleston SC (Medical Univ of SC)
Atlanta GA (Emory U)
Charlottesville VA (UVA)
Also consider Nashville TN (Vanderbilt)
Jacksonville FL (Mayo-JAX)
