When to visit Chicago?
DH and I are interested in visiting Chicago sometime this year. How is the weather in late April? or should we wait for Fall?
Thanks, Kellye |
Anytime is good. There is no bad weather, just the wrong clothes. LOL!
Seriously, late April is fine and so is Fall. If you want to do River tour etc.- I believe it starts right around May 1. But I love April downtown as you will catch the tulips then. Just don't visit tonight because there are too many people celebrating everywhere and they are over-served. Yahoo, BEARS are in the Superbowl. |
I love it when the hundreds of thousands of tulips are in bloom!
Whoo are these bears we speak of? is it an animal park? a zoo? can you feed them? |
The weather in late April is very hard to predict. It could be nice, warm and sunny...but then again snow isn't out of reach either. As a resident, fall has always been my favorite season. It's the one season that I expect good weather, and by that I mean not too hot, not too cold and usually sunny.

Late April is tough weather to predict, it can be rainy and I've seen snow as late as the 2nd week of May. If those were my two choices, I'd wait until fall. September is usually a nice month to visit.
GO BEARS! |
Thanks for your help. I have free SW tickets burning a hole in my pocket - maybe we'll go somewhere else this Spring and save Chicago for the Fall. I think anywhere in the US is nice in the Fall - trick is finding a good place to go in the Spring.
Thanks again! Kellye |
Last year I went downtown on May 11 and it was all around perfect. You can hit cold and rainy in the Fall too.
Just go. There is no bad weather, just bad clothes. And if it rains, you get to shop. LOL! |
