When is Spring Break
I'm visiting Florida from England in April 2001 (14th to 23rd) and I'm starting to worry about the College Kids running riot at the beaches. Should I worry and if so where should I go to avoid the crowds.

You should be fine. We're back in school after spring break by April 2 in 2001.

I'm in North Carolina. Our colleges are done with Spring Break, but our public schools (grade school/high school) are on break April 17 - 21.

Florida has made their beach resort areas unattractive to college Spring Breakers in recent years. The only two beaches that remain somewhat popular with college kids are Panama City and Daytona. That leaves you a pretty extensive group to choose from. It truly shouldn't be a big problem. Most of the wild spring breaks now take place in Cancun, Nassau, and Jamaica.

Spring Break runs a wide swath on calendars. Some schools have them in early march, and I have heard some schools even having them in early to mid April. Its basically a crap shoot. The previous post was correct to an extent. Key West Fl. has become an extremely popular destination along with Cancun, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.

I live in Panama City, FL and the Spring Breakers are wild here from mid-March til the 3rd week of April. They are VERY thick until that 3rd week (the END of the 3rd week) and then the 4th week they are pretty much scattered. A few still linger, but not in mass numbers. As in previous oosts most of Florida is not so Spring Break friendly as we and Daytona are. It is B-A-D when they are here. Ft. Lauderdale, Clearwater (near Tampa/St. Pete), St. Augustine, Sanibel Island and Long Boat Key are good choices that are not so Spring Breakish and also nice areas on the coast. Hope this helps!
